I was looking at the corvette Z06 info page :

http://www.chevrolet.com/byo/byoSelectStyle.cv;jsessionid=220FIT2Z5X40ICSUR2UCD SQKKSHSSIPS?noType=0&make=Chevrolet&zip=80920&subModel=&makeId=001&model=&subModelId=65&year=2006&y=11&x=36&modelId=030&pvc=11710&iPi=1&fPi=4&&newVehicle=true

And I saw this on the Engine info:

7.0L LS7 V8 SFI, includes dry-sump oil system

1) LS7? Was there a LS3-LS6? The GTO and regular corvette use a LS2 right?

2) What is "dry-sump oil system"?

Thanks.

LOL those are funny compared to the other LSx engines. 3cyl. Turbo--lol that's the one that goes in the Turbo Sprint/Firefly.

And it looks like GM is possibly re-using RPO codes???!

That wikipedia link you linked to says:

"LS6 can also refer to a 454 in³ Chevrolet Big-Block engine of the 1970s"

Then again it is wikipedia so that isn't guaranteed to be true.

The LS6 originally was a 454 7.4L V8 that was used in teh 1970 chevelle SS, so yes, gm is reuseing RPO codes.
