looking for a new HU

Well i think its time to take my old sony POS out and take a hammer to it.

I want something that will go along with the red lighting already in the car (like the stock radios are colored) i would also like something that has a flat face like the sony i have. I dont really mind what brand it is, aslong as its not another sony. If it matters i have 6 1/2 infinity reference speakers up front and 6x9 infinity references in the back.

In the picture you can see how the face is all black, i like this cause it doesnt seem to stand out (i dont want people to break into my car and steal a $300-$400 HU)

I had an old sony like that. And ya it really sucked. But I bought a used CDX-M3DI for 100 bucks and it's awsome. Built in equalzer and crossover. If you have the money i would buy I different brand, I like Clarion's new ones, but don't write off sony yet. They stepped it up quite alot.


But man that old sony I had, I hated that stupid peice of crap soo much. I was gonna just wait it out until I bought a new car( the one i have now) but it just quit working. The output amp fried or something. Then i got this one and it's awsome. and the screen has so many options and the reselotion is so good. blows minds. but anywho.

Clarion's new touch screens are pretty sweet, i know someones gonna say Alpines the best period, but go to and independent shop and ask. Some of those guys know alot and have seen even more. And i'm pretty sure clarion's are red lit.

Sony makes a name not a product. If you want a decent deck check out some of the Kenwoods I use the KDC7028. When you do decide what you want make sure the voltage output is at least 4. IF not id recomend a preamp that will up your voltage to 5-7.

sony did at one point make good stuff, but since the xplod line came out they've all been crap

if you can find the moble es stuff you'll be very pleased, they stopped that line like 4 years ago, some of you may remember their head units with the disc tray that came out as opposed to the normal slot drive

i wanna say the cdx line may be what became of the moble es line, but it still isn't as good

if you want a red display, good sq (or great depending on which unit) and good features check out eclpise, the 5435, 45, and 55 units are all good, the 45 and 55 have 24bit dac and 8v preouts also, and a kick ass display and great sound adjustment
