Caspers fan switch

Does anybody know if the caspers fan switch sold on pfyc.com will also work with a 1995 Grand am with the 3100. I would really like to do this mod to keep my engine running cool.

What exactly does it do for the car?? I considered getting one and a 180 degree thermostat also.
