I bought some Pioneer TS-A6991R 6 by 9s for the back seat but had no clue how much trouble it would be to put them in. I had to completly take the back part of the car apart. Even after that i still had trouble taking the rear deck out because i didnt want to bend it and make it all crappy looking.
Heres some pics.

Dude, you tore your hole back apart just for a 6x9 re-install? I'm not sure if that was 100% necessary, but I'm glad you got it done. How do they sound?

They sound good. I was gonna go with component speakers from rockford fosgate but didnt feel like spending that much on speakers so i just bought these cuz they had a lot of tweeters on them.

That is the way it has to be done. Not sure if the side panels with the arm rest has to be removed in a 2 door though. Other than that it's not that bad, just those damn torx bolts for the seatbelts. What size what it anyways. I've forgotten since I did mine.

I agree with Ryan. Although I have a 4dr too, my torx bolts were an inbetween size, and the dealer told me that Pontiac issued them the bit, but they are not allowed to sell it. So they took them off for me for free, then I replaced it with a normal grade 8 bolt.

You don't have to provided you have the fold down seat and smaller hands. It is a real PITA to get it out without taking off the seat back, but I've removed the upper trim panel there twice (to get to the speakers) without taking the seats or seat back out at all :)

PS: Anyone notice what colour lagetur's car was :P ;)

I did notice the Torx seat belt bolts (not on the rear seat, 'cause I never removed it but on the front seat side belts and buckles) were "in between" as well, but I thought that was because they were Imperial or something (which doesn't make any sense because the entire rest of the car is fashioned in the metric system).

Anyway I found that a T-45 still worked on them. It was actually a little too small but still turned it okay with minimal "damage" to the pattern on the bolt. The T-50 was a tad too big to fit in the hole.
