I’m bored and ready to do it again. :)

I'd like to, but I have a feeling I'll still be too poor to make that kind of a trip. :(

i think there is thread about this already in the Club ECM discussion...could someone possibly merge this http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=50
to the right thread????

Katie, only ClubECM members can see the ClubECM section. The thread in there is specifically for planning of the meet, not discussing who will be going. ;)

Count me in! I saw the pictures of the '03-05 meets and it looks like everyone had a great time, and it looks fun. This will be my 1st meet, I'll take a week and a half of leave in 06 on the week of the event to see me aunt in NY after the event, it'll be awesome, can't wait 2 meet everyone!
Now I'm just waiting on some dates
Hopefully I'll have my supercharger by then (gotta save up $3500.00, this years tax return should help)
I should have some pictures of my car posted by the end of this month

well, may not :(
*IF* it falls on either my Spring or Summer break... which both are only about 10 days long, then I can make it.
Otherwise I can't.
Since both of my cars that are registered will be in FL, I'll have to drive up which would take 2 days, then drive back.
Once we get the dates, I'll have to see.....

Spring break - 3/13-3/20
Summer break - 7/24-7/31
those 2 last dates are the day I gotta be in class.
Yeah, one of the few downsides to a tech. school :(
Since I would want/have to drive up, it'll take about 1.5 days each way.... that will be taking away from the time spent there....
then of course, this would be my whole vacation... so I would have to decide GAOC meet, spend the ~week back at home visiting friends/family etc... or go off and do my own thing for a week somewhere... drive to Key West, Miami, or maybe make a trip out to stay with my aunt/uncle/cousin in Texas.....
It all depends on the date... *IF* the GAOC meet falls right in with my breaks, yeah, I'll go. I don't own a Grand Am, and I have been to the last/first 3 meets... without a Grand Am... and it really does mean alot to me.
If the dates to not line up.... maybe if it is an off-peak time I could fly up for the weekend only.... off peak I think I can get round trip for like $180, that isn't too bad.... but then I would have to see about getting around... my Oldsmobile is in NY, but not registered, I don't think I can swap plates from the Caddy for the weekend.... so the only other option would be to borrow my fathers spare vehicle..... 1988 full size Ford Bronco.... sweet truck, and it'll get me around :) maybe run it at LVD :)
Actually, really, if I did come up for the weekend, I am sure my friend Chris with the 1.8T Jetta would love to hang out and do this for the weekend, I will just tell him ahead of time so he can get the time off from work.
So after all that rambling.... if it lines up with either of my breaks, I'll drive the Caddy (most likely '93) up to NY.... if it is on a weekend, and it works for me and my friend then I'll fly up.... I would fly right into Albany too, that is neat :)
So I guess it'll work out... I want to make sure it works out! can't miss the 4th GAOC meet over something trival....like living 1,500 miles away! :)

Ah gosh...
with money being really tight and all, I think the only way I will be able to make it, is if it lines up with my summer break... maybe not all of it, but atleast a couple days....
Summer break - 7/24-7/31
It sucks. Thats part of being in a tech school. What would happen is, I would fly up, once i get to NY, I would get my Oldsmobile on the road (bring the plates up when I go up) and drive that around, and to Albany etc.... but then that car is coming back to Florida... which means I need to leave 2-3 days before the 31st. I will do the drive in 2 days, MAYBE stright thru, depends how I feel, the Olds if comfy enough that shouldn't be a problem.
I am unsure if I am going up to NY for Summer break, if any of the GAOC club lines up, then I'll definitly go... otherwise the trip may wait. But money for the plane ticket there, then for my expense while in NY, then for the gas back (figured about $100 with the Olds) is going to be hard enough to come by... but if the meet lines up, like I said atleast for 2+ days, then I *WILL* be there :)
But for the reason that next time I am in NY the Olds will be coming down to FL, I will not be driving up, as the Olds will not be able to come down here if I do that :)

I miss my GA sooooo much! I cant wait to see everyones cars. No one up here has a nice GA so im having withdrawl!
I just ordered a new car. I think that most of you might not approve (yes i bought an import) but im super excited about it. It gets delivered in May so the meet will probably be the first road trip in it! Cant wait to see everyone and there cars!

I know its a lot of fun. We went the first year they had it at albany and we had a blast. but when we went this past year we only went to the track and then back to the hotel but since we weren't there from the beginning it was awkward. No one talked to us and everytime we asked people what was going on they would just walk away from us. So we went back home. So I was hoping that this year we can get to know people before the meet. I hear the words "beer" and "drunk" a lot when Albany is mentioned.
Is this event friendly to those under 21, or even those who don't drink?
I want to go, but my Mom would not allow me to if this is all that happens, especially since it will be expensive.
BTW: what is beer pong?

05-23-2006, 08:57 PM
Actually, except for myself three years ago I'm not aware of anyone ever getting really loaded. There is drinking going on, some people get pretty darn drunk but for most in attendance it's not a major priority.
We, as the Club, will not tolerate anything that is obviously illegal and/or dangerous anyways. Our first and foremost priority is everyone's safety and enjoyment. We did have the cops bust us out of a parking lot two years ago, not because we were violent, too noisy or drunk in public but because the morons closing the restaurant in front of the hotel didn't like 20+ people sitting down and chatting in their parking lot. We moved back to the hotel property and everything was fine. All the empty beer bottle were even tightly packed in (and around) the one trash can outside the hotel in the morning :D
If it helps, you can get in touch with either me, Shawn, Kelly or John and we'll give you our phone number for your mom to call and enquire about the meet. It's been done before, with pretty good success.

Actually the Albany events for the most part are booze-free. During the day there is much too much driving around for people to be drinking (I hope!). The only drinking happens in the evening when everyone is sitting around the campfire (minus the whole campfire thing) and it is a very mellow thing. I have been every year (except the first lil' albany meet) and I don't drink much but I still have a blast.

I hear the words "beer" and "drunk" a lot when Albany is mentioned.
Is this event friendly to those under 21, or even those who don't drink?
I want to go, but my Mom would not allow me to if this is all that happens, especially since it will be expensive.
BTW: what is beer pong?
your 19 and dont know what beer pong is come to albany and you will see:travis:

So I'm pretty damn excited all of these festivities are coming to a place that is about half an hour from where I'm sitting this minute. I can't wait to check out everyone's rides and meet all of you, hope you're as excited as I am!!
See everyone soon!
