I searched and checked the stickies, couldn't really find what I was looking for. I know something about car audio, I did all the work on my car myself. But my friend has an Acura 3.2CL and she wants me to put in a sub for her. Thing is, she's keeping the factory HU. Since I'm not working with an aftermarket HU, there's no RCA pre-amp sub outs. So is there some kind of speaker wire to RCA cable converter I need so I can steal the sound signal from the rear 6x9's? The Kicker KX400.1 has a built in filter, so that should filter it to just the bass. Any help?

Well if she wants to keep the stock headunit then youll have to get a drop line. It converts the signal from the deck into an rca output. 1 major problem. Basic rca outs on lower model aftermrket hu's give an average of about a 2 volt output a drop line will only give you about a .5 volt output. The signal is terrible and contributes to alot of distortion in the bass. Id say if she cant hear the difference from bass and distortion buy get her the dropline. The drop line shouldnt be more then 10-15 bucks at a decently priced shop. 15 bucks/crappy sound vs $150+/ decent sound
