... alarm manufacturer who has the ability to accept a "ground input" to activate or deactivate the alarm? ... basically, what I am trying to do is to have the alarm either arm or disarm depending on the position of the door locks which will be controlled by my factory remote and NOT the alarm remote ... I know this feature used to be available on older DEI equipment but they tell me they no longer do it and the only way I can control their alarm is via RF ... any suggestions? ... for interest sake, the reason I would prefer to NOT use an alarm remote is because the factory remote for my Dakota is part of the key itself, thus, it is quite large and if I add another remote to my key ring, it will become awkward :(

Why not have another 'normal size' key cut, and use a standard alarm?

... already thought of that dude but the Dakota key is special being it contains a 'chip' and has to be ordered then programmed :( ... I priced it and they are $60 CDN for each key plus $30 for the programming (although, my dealer said they'd program it for nothing) ... if I can't locate the idea alarm, then I probably will buy the keys and then simply get a paging alarm or something (on this point, I have a local shop researching the possibility of programming a new alarm system so it will also control the Grand Am but have yet to determine if that is possible due to the new style of RF used compared to the old)

This is an interesting one. I know what you mean though and there are still alarms to my knowledge that will have a secondary disarm input available. Which ones is another story. There are pretty much hundreds of thousands of different alarm brains/models out there so you'd just have to look at some install manuals for a few different makes/models you find to see if that is available on them.
Better yet you could try emailing manufacturers like DEI, Omega, Crimestopper, etc. asking if they have any current models that have that feature. Otherwise you could try different shops to see if they sell/install such alarm systems that have a secondary disarm input.

... that is just it, I called the majority of the larger shops around and most say I'm out of luck :( ... the brands used here are generally DEI, Clifford, Ungo, Clarion, AutoStart, etc and none of them do ... they did, but not any more :( ... I was just hoping someone knew who did this or maybe a way around it
