Pretty much plug and play if you have a 3100 in it from the start

Alot... PCM, gauge cluster, wiring harness, etc from a 3100 GA. Additionally you'd need to cut out engine mounts from a doner GA and weld them onto yours.

And you'll need injectors from an L82 3100 engine, if you use the 96-98 GA 3100 PCM. Either that or you have to have the PCM programmed to use the 3400s injectors.

^Right... most of those details are outlined in the guide at www.3400swap.com but as a prerequisite that assumes you had a 3100 in there. Just wanted to point out the scope of that swap and let him decide if it's for him or not. The details can come later. ;)

No swap is easy when you go to a completely different engine family.

It may be cheaper just to buy a turbo kit for a cavalier/sunfire (will need new downpipe; otherwisr straightforward)
Plus less bitching about gas prices ;) (we use less:lol: )

yea will definately be cheaper then having someone else do the swap, unless you feel comfortable and have the time to do the swap. If your out for a challenge then go for the swap but make sure you get ALL neccessary parts otherwise your gonna be like a chicken with its head cut off scrabbling around for parts and time

Don't want to be a jackass but the 96+ sho's were a 3.4 V-8. Still would be a bad ass swap. There's a lot of crap on those engines though, a real PITA to fix. (my gf has one, and I'm ripping it apart every weekend)

That's not the Yamaha engine he mentioned. He's referring to the older 3.0/3.2 DOHC V6. (3.2 was on the automatics only) Of course... that's pretty far-fetched either way. ;)

Opps, sorry. I just figured he was referring to the Yamaha 3.4 V-8. It just seems more extreme than the older 3.2. And yes, far fetched no matter what. :)

the 3.0/3.2 were Yamaha also. They were the same but the 3.2 had like 20tq more to make up for the auto. That ideal is far-fetched, but one day when the GA has seen better days. Out comes the LD9 and 4T60 :D . It's very simple when you think about, then I think about how much money it will cost. :(
