im new to this "mods" stuff... but as of right now i got a 2001 Grand Am SE and tryin little by little to get it "pimped" as some of you like to say...but lets just say my job at Long John Silvers aint exactly cuttin it....ne way im lookin for some speakers for my front i got a Sony xplode amp pushin like 850 with 2 12" duels 450 each...i know its not much but it gets the job done...i was wondering if any one had any sugestions for speakers that will match about the power of my subs...i dont want one more overbearing than the other...i know i can adjust all that on my face plate but ya get what im sayin... also i was lookin for some cheap stuff i can do to "jazz" it up a little i have planes on getting some rims and a body kit but that later down the road.

also i was wondering if i should have my subs face the back or the front of the car... my friend has MTX's facing the front and they are hella loud but ofcourse hes pushin like 1200 watts... i have a sloted box with 4 holes on top and blue neons on it.. i have a limited knowlege....very limited... about all this kinda stuff so any ifo would be gratly appriiated

thanks
michael

Hey mike! welcome to the club

As far as speakers...I dont' think you're going to find anything that'll be "overbearing" to the subs. Check the Car Audio FAQ's section for tips on how to make 5.25" speakers fit in the factory opening. I'd get the best ones that fit your budget...and if possible, amp them.

As for the subs, I've found that facing them towards the back and close to the back of the car is the best.

And we all had limited knowledge at one point...well except me , but you learn from asking questions!

Good luck :)

What do you mean "the same way"?

I'm assuming you have an aftermarket head unti (HU). You would hook up the amp to the HU the same way, and the power and ground the same. The output of the amp wouldn't be bridged of course. You'd be using a two channel amp (or four channel if you plan on upgrading your rears too) and you would run the speakers off the corresponding channel, front left, front right, rears...yada yada yada. Search Crutchfields website, there's a bunch of how-to's there that can explain it way better than i can.

I've bought speakers form car audio stores only to see them half the price on ebay...new!

I would go check them out at a store and find the ones that suit you (and you can listen to them) and then buy online or ebay.

Good luck with everything :)

I like them for referance material and guides, but as far as products....way to expensive. You can buy the same stuff from a local audio store for 10% cheaper on average. But I know thier customer service is great too, so I guess you paying for that too :)
