I have a '97 GAGT. And, i got some problems with the cars front end. First off, is the headlights. The left one, if perfectly clear, looks brand new, same with the foglight there. The other one however... is oxidized hardcore. Its like its from a completely different car, its almost pure yellow. As with the other side, the foglight on this side is also almost pure yellow. On top of all that, the hood's clear coat is almost completely gone, There is about an inch to two inches of border around the hood that is clearcoated yet. otherwise the whole center of the hood is just paint. And the right side quarter panel doesnt fit quite right, it has a small gap between it and the hood, and the bumper on the right side has cracks in the paint there. Somone told me that it looked like ym car was on fire in the front, but there is no other indication other than paint and messed up panels and lights to indicate a fire. No blackening inside or anywhere inthe engine bay. Just the cosmetic look of a fire.

Now, heres my question, My foglights dont work, the light goes on in the car, but they dont turn on. How can i take them off to both A. Clean them, and B. Maybe fix them since im pretty good with wiring and that stuff. Same for the headlight.

Also, I heard once that there is a process that involves putting the headlight cover in the over for a few to rid the yellow oxidation. Just wondering if there is an easier way to rid the yellow than just getting a new light.

I havent checked my carfax to see if there is any accidents for this car, it just kinda looks like several parts in the front were replaced, except that they also look completely stock. Wiring ( tape and plastic covers and all). Everything on the car looks stock. There was some wiring run for a system in the car when i bought it, but no system. It was very well done, so that tells me either this person was really good at wiring and installing things in thier car, or they had alot professionally done.

my guess would be that it was in an accident and poorly repaired.

i'm in the process of cleaning up my oxidized headlights, and i'm making some good progress. When I finish i'll post a write-up on it with pics.

I miss the days of glass headlamps.

I also miss rear-wheel drive, V-8 engines and full-sized spare tires. :D

Once apon a time I had a (POS) Neon and the head lamps did the same thing. I found a Head Lamp Polishing kit from Ohio Auto Supply. It worked really well and took care of the problem. Just takes some elbow grease and about 1/2 hr. Check out thier link or you can look at your local auto stores.

Im fortunate to have Ohio Auto Supply close by, and they also carry all kinds of detailing products.
