I acutally put bolts in the holes. It doesn't look half bad.

See, not that noticeable.

oh yea, if you do the bolt thing make sure to silicone around the washer (I used a bolt and washer on top) to keep water out of the trunk.

I say put duct tape on the inside and get some red vinyl cut into circles on the outside.
The proper way would be to make filler panels, weld them in, grind them down, and paint the trunk lid.

... go get a couple screw caps that you would normally use to cover up the screws holding together a shelf or something and then use a brush to paint them red ... you could use a little silicon to hold them in but later on, if you wanted to put the original spoiler back, you could pop out the plugs :)

^those last 2 ideas are the best. Ive seen a few cars in town that had alum spoilers on their car then they took them off and used the bolts to keep the holes filled in,looked somewhat ok but definately got to be an eye sore. Ive been thinking about taking off my stock spoiler and having my trunk shaved and will be doing what John(TA^Guy) mentioned, vinyl blends in better with the paint and can go longer without people noticing right away

when i did mine, from inside the trunk i welded in quaters. one in each hole. yes there is a dollar welded to my trunk. yes its "rigged" but i had no other metal or metal i could cut that small.
i say if you yant to do it RIGHT take you trunk lid off and bring it to a body shop. have them weld, fill and paint the trunk. it is the propper way to do it. no water will get in and it will look like it came that way. or see if you can get a trunk that didnt have holes in it to start with :)
i know some people are on budgets, but if you want it to look right and you cant afford it like i suggested, save up dude. it will be so worth it.
btw-i am not saying you are poor i just dont know your finacial capabilities. :) no insults intended
yes i cant spell, sorry :P

yea, naturally you want to have it filled...that is the best way, I just assumed that you're on a budget like I am. The vinyl is a great idea...I think I'll be doing that myself soon. Kelly, I like the screw caps as well. It'd be easy to do, and just ass easy to remove...but for my application (and possibly shift's) the holes in my trunk aren't all round.

most deff, hope we get the chance to do it again. i may have to come up to you guys next year. i had a blast last year.
but as for the trunk i welded them up. its the best way to go. altho i am a DIYer i warped the trunk a little bit. it suck cause there is a high spot on the top. so that shaddow you see under the 3rd break light is a little off. its not stright like it should be

Yea, but nobody can tell...awesome job!
OT, I don't know why I never saw the exhaust before, but I'm really diggin it. Most excelent job. That combined with the shaved spoiler and clean look of the entire car makes quite possibly the best GA I've seen.

:wow: thanks for the compiments. i dont know if i would go as far as saying it the best GA you ever saw, but i am greatfull for the compliments. maybe i am just modest and humbel.
i have other plans for the back, but dont know how to pull them off. plus i bet i will get flammed for it by other GA owners  but one of the main reasons for me to it is to see if i CAN do it. plus i love tinkering with my car. i love gettin my hand on stuff like that. sorry for th :offtopic: there. got cought up in the oment haha

Maybe that explains your spelling? :) j/k But don't ride behind Mike and expect to hear your music, cause it just doesn't happen, no matter how loud I turn it up. :)

bondo will also do the trick but it will take alot of sanding and you will have to repaint, thats what i did whent i took the wing off and put the stock spoiler on, i just resprayed it with touch up paint, it dosent look that great right now but it will do until i get the whole car repainted

:agree:
if you want to use bondo i suggest taking a small ballpein(sp) hammer and gently tapping down on the hole. this way you will get like a dimple or a little cup shape. the bondo will then have something to sit in and stay. also scuff up around the hole so the bondo has something to bite onto and adhere(sp) better

When I need extra strength while using epoxy, I use metal screen. I have also used felt, denum and cotton. It acts like carbon fiber (sort of).
Is bondo like epoxy? Could a screen be glued in place with it?

when i had the wing the stock holes were filled it with bondo i believe, a real painter or whatever did that, but the bondo want really fall out you spread alot of it around and get it filled it, it hardens and sticks, sand, then fill the remaining hole let ahrden and said again

Bahaha...I have a custom full carbon fiber spoiler that will fit in the stock mounting holes. If you're willing to pay $600 I'll sell it to you. It's a one off so at least you'll be the only one.
