The LCD on that is probably variable colour I'm guessing (either that or Clarion makes different colour versions). But there are lots of HUs out there with the changeable LCD backlight.
As for most important things to look for, it all depends on what you need it for and how you're going to use it. Are you going to be running separate amps and a sub? I.e. What are you planning on, a few more components or just the HU and nothing else?
Edit: Oh and it is a variable colour LCD:
From the SoundDomain text, "You'll love the 728 variable color LCD display"

Well what I first look at when it come to a deck is the preout voltage. But only if you are planning on throwing an amp in the car. I wont go less then a 4volt output and the first clarion that you list only has a 1.8 volt output. Thats actually lower then the standard deck. Which is usually about 2-2.5v This really makes a difference in the sound signal quality and the amp performance. The next thing to look for is if the eq in the deck is adjustable ( not just Bass, Mid, High or preset choices.) But that also goes to say that you know how to tune it yourself. The rest is all just personal choice on other features (color, graphics, style, whatever)
