I have a 2001 Grand Am Gt coupe. It has the door dings through speakers.

1st-I want to replace my front speakers. I know how to take door panel all apart, but when putting new speakers in, is it simply match wire colors or what? I have a stock head unit, and possibly upgrade much later.

My back speaker makes this annoying sound, almost like a bird chirping when I play music with lots of base like rap. I never hear the annoying noise on songs with not a ton of base. It comes from in the speaker. Do you know what this is caused by, and how to fix it?

Also, my car has the stock amp for just base(the 8 speaker setup), and if I were to replace the back speakers, would it require a lot of electrical skill?

Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

*I've searched alot through the forums.

Well, I'm pretty sure there must be a "how-to" somewhere for 1999+ GA door removal and speaker installs, because about a bazillion people have done it to theirs.

Direct link to our n00b FAQ:
99+ panel removal (http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=83)

Also, here's a link for 5.25 install, which are better than stock size speakers.http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43771

granted it's a 4 door, but you get the hint.

The colors should match up fine, it's easy. One light and one Dark.

My guess is your back speaker is blown, only fix for that is to buy a new set.

Here is one of many threads you need to read. Do a search on "Monsoon".
You cannot just swap in an aftermarket speaker with the Monsoon system. If you were to do so you would be for a big dissapointment.

- Anyways, read through the whole thread, there's alot of info. there that you should know before you even think of poping that door panel off.;)
