Ok I'm bored so how bout starting a thread for 96-98 GA's.

Everyone who has done something to their interior, post up, hopefully with pictures, this way we can have a large database of ideas and neat stuff to do to our interiors. LED's, shifters, guage pods, custom molding, cluster mods, whatever! Just post up.

I'll start it off simple:

COLD CATHODE KIT from our sponsor, oznium.com

I think I may get some glow gauges with a red background, I cant remember where i found them... They were all customizable and stuff. O well I love that fiberglass interior thats crazy! Well go 96-98s!
Peace,

Yeah, cool stuff, that fiberglassed interior is INSANE! I like how he moulded the front speakers that's mad tyte yo! haha.

Anyhow, yeah my pic of the green cathodes is old as well, I've made more interior mods since then. I've added a Sony MP3 player HU that glows 7 colors (yes it's usually on green) and I've also added smaller cathode kits under my bucket seats to shine in the backseat a bit and finally, i took off and painted my dash and center console BLACK instead of the charcoal grey factory (pretty much just like Matt's). Subtle, but sweet mod. I'll get pics up during x-mas break hopefully.

Sweet98, are those replacement boots for the shifter/ebrake or did you dye them? just wondering cuz when I took off my center console, i noticed that my ebrake boot was shot, does anybody sell aftermarket boots to fit our cars?

I actually didn't do the window switches/ A buddy of mine did them but was getting rid of his car so we just traded the switches. I've heard of people using nail polish remover but I think the best way is grabbing a sharp knife or whatever and scraping it off.

Yeah I kind of like the light there too.

Praasch - I really like the paint. I'm hoping to do something like that too, but just not as flashy, maybe a gunmetal/silver or even a dark green...who knows

I was considering a Dark green for my dash too but I figured, well black is a safe bet you know? maybe someday i'll change it but meh.

Praasch, you must have had your dash dyed or something, that looks cool. Also, are those race seats or just covers?

AND, i see you switched shifter knobs. Was it hard? what happens to the ETS button? This is the only one I really care for over at ichibahn, are they all pretty universal to install?

the dash i vinyl dyed myself...i wrote up a how to in the "how to" section on what i did. not really that hard...just time consuming. the seats are the cheap racing seats from ebay...like $280 shipped for both of them...kind of a pain to install but i like 'em. the shifter was easy to install....three screws that are around the base of it that hold it to the metal rod....as for the ETS button...i cut off the clip, and wired the two wires together which makes the ETS always on and hid it under the center console...

ok i figured it was something like that. actually, shouldn't be too hard for someone to install a small, rocker switch for that huh? maybe on the center console somewhere.

Flatline, I like those boards you got there, in the door jamb area. Are they custom or are those sold somewhere?

The Artist
12-01-2005, 12:12 PM
just for the record, the fiberglass dash can be ordered directly from Vibrant Performance. What they actually offer is a "generic fiberglass dash for any car"... it just so happens to be a DIRECT mold from the entire 96-98 dash (as in he didnt just glass over it) It will also fit right over your current dash, so you dont have to take out the stock one. His doors where hand made by a guy named J-Man from AED's site.

As far as the boots, its an easy 10 minute job that i say you should do yourself. First thing u do is take ure ass to a fabrics store and pick the type of leather and color you want. Then you take your boots off and undo the stitching and lay the entire boot (again UNSTITCHED) over the material you bought and trace an outline. Then cut the outline out and turn the lining so that it's inside out (as in, you want to fold the to ends together where you are going to stitch it back together to make the boot inside out) and sew them together. Then turn the boot rightside out again and ure done. All the stitching n what not will all be inside the boot, and your final product will just be a nice cross stitch (obviously you are going to want a sewing machine for this)
This sux though because the boots are held on with like a plastic clip type of ring thing that usually breaks, so u have to hotglue the tabs together when u are ready to put it all back together. You'll see what i mean when u have your console out of the car and are getting ready to take the boots off.

yes, i'm currently in the process of trying to find a new plastic ring cuz mine is in pieces for my e-brake, and makking your own boots sounds like a GREAT idea, you made it sound so easy.

^it really wasn't that hard, I just put them as far back as I could....they are pretty bright so you see them either way. Just try to put them real far back, like where the little light is mounted down there in the carpet. I think mine goes right over top or behind the tiny light bulb.

Wow, you just gave me such a good Idea for the armrest! I love that. I got a rotary tool for x-mas so maybe I'll cut out a cool design and throw some green behind her.

Anyhow, I don't usually have that many people in my backseats and the times that I do, nothing has been broken? I dunno maybe I have them mounted far enough back to where they don't get kicked, cant say for sure.
