So I searched, and I see you can keep the stock speakers with a new HU, so heres what I want to know, I have a sub already and I have the monsoon system both the sub andstock speakers have their own amp the sub has one and the monsoon system has its stock amp. What I want to do is add my iPod to my car through a hardwire but haven't seen a way to do it by keeping my stock headunit so if I go the route of a new headunit, what will I need as far as output voltage and anything else to keep the car from tripping any SRS or other problem, like blowing a speaker. Is there a special hookup, and what headunit will work best with the sock system plus a sub and has an ipod link up. If this is confusing please let me know how and I will try my best to clarify what I mean.

K, I'm not sure if this is the best way, but my system is exactly what yours will be.
I put in a new head unit, to do that you need a dashkit and a harness. You just follow the directions on the packages. Just make sure you connect the remote wire for the stock amp to the antenna or sub-out remote wire. Because the stock head unit puts out a weak signal to the stock amp, I can only turn my HU up to half, with the EQ all the way down, and it's blaring loud.
As for the sub, I just ran the power, remote, signal and ground wires and wired it up. Sounds killer.
And your iPod, I have and AUX input on my deck, so i just got a headphone->A/V cable and hooked it into the AUX input. You can buy cables from apple and other companies that charge your iPod while having A/V connecters.

"Any" (Within Reason) Head unit will work for keeping the stock speakers and the sub, but for the iPod you need at least one with Aux inputs
Any Specific Questions, Please ask.

There's no way that you have an aftermarket amp spliced only into your stock system. You have to be running a power wire from that to your battery, and if you spliced your RCA's from your amp to your 6x9"s or something, that's asking for trouble right there.
But, I agree with what Bevan said. Find a HU with at least an AUX port in it. For ease, make sure it's in the front. Some HU's offer AUX port but for some reason they put it in the back of the deck. I don't know if they still do that today (probably not) but make sure that's one thing you look for.

The only headunits that I know of that have an 18? port on the front for Auxillaar are JVC. Everyone else that I've seen used left & right RCA connections on the back of the deck for Auxillry audio signal.
Corey, what happened with CC? I heard you tirned the job down or something? Would have been cool to have somone who actually had a clue as to what car audio is about. lol Its all good though:)

trust me it was done and done right my uncle is an electrician there is a variable 12V which he spliced as well as a few other things it has been that way for well over a year with perfect results the sub is also spliced into the rear speakers, and running either the high or low from them I forget whch I didnt do it. Yes there is a power wire to the fuse box or somethin like that I know I ran a wire that he put under the hood, the fuse tube is under the hood. the amp runs only the sub and the stock amp runs the stock speakers.
So then how bout a few recommendations for a HU that will work well with this setup.

umm if you just want to integrate an Ipod to a stock headunit its pretty easy... USA Spec has auxillary adaptors available at places like Circuit City for around $50 that do the trick. You can also just use an FMmodulator to get the job done as well.
as far as you current set up....not sure exactly what you have going on with it, but if everything is working now, swapping the headunit, or adding an interface to allow play of an ipod shouldn't affect anything from working. Just from the sound of it, you may want to consider professional installation.

It must be the signal wires that you uncle spliced from the back 6x9's, and the remote wire from the stock amp. If thats the case i hope the amp has a crossover. But if it's all installed and working, replacing the Head Unit won't change any of that.
But about your question, what kind of money do you want to spend, thats what will limit your choice in Head units. Find your price range then we can go from there. I mean as long as it has an Auxillery inputs it will be fine.
P.S. My aux port is in the back of my head unit and it's alright there, it runs behind the dash into my little cubby hole. I can stick my iPod in there and it seems perfect.

There is a crossover box, What I am thinking now is getting a stock Monsoon radio off ebay that has the aux port on it. I went looking at HU today and they all will look horrible with the car, no flow.

Check out the Pioneer AVIC-N1 or N2 I have the N1 flows great with the car. Has all kinds of Inputs and outputs and you can buy an Ipod controller for the Pioneer radios (like you can with many others) that will actualy let you control the ipod from the head unit. You can run the wires into the center console so that you can just plug the Ipod in ther and forget it the radio dose all the work.
