im not sure if most of you guys are "off the shelf" guys and just use whatever polish they sell locally....or if you only wax your car and never prep it...

but for those who throuroughly detail their cars, what do you like to use?

ive found luck with optimum polish and poorboys ssr 1 or ssr 2. meguiars #80 does the job as well.

i like to wash my car with any dish soap to get the remainder of the old wax off, dry the car then clay bar it. then i will wash it again with black magic car wash. after that i use meguire's 3 step deep crystal system. grease lightning on the rims/tires, and black magic tire wet on the tires. that's my detail. love meguire's. still waiting unti next summer when i have the money to do ZAINO!!!!

Meguiars.... But I've heard nothing but fantabulous things about Zaino... Maybe I'll try it out this season... If it ever gets here :(

Zaino all the way. The one thing I absolutely love about Zaino - 6 or 7 coats of z2/z5, and even sitting out in all weather, the stuff didnt wear off yet. I take 1 or 2 weekends each spring, strip it down and do it all again, don't have to worry about it til next spring. The people who saw my car at Atco, yea, I havent waxed it in nearly 7 months :) Even as of right now, the car is beading water like I just waxed it.

Trish - E-mail Zaino and see if there is a local dealer in your area..... or, become the local dealer :) I'm sure they'll hook you up.

Oh man, Matt... That clay bar stuff is awesome. My nephew did my car for me and it is simply incredible. I had'nt even heard of it before until he used it on my car. My nephew is a professional auto detailer, and he told me my car was full of rail dust. (previous owner resided close to railroad tracks..) That clay bar actually removed all the tiny rail dust particles. I couldn't believe it, and how nice the car came out.
Your car will look awesome, as black always shines really nice.

I tried the claybar on my car and it didn't make any difference.

I guess since it was only a year old and only had 20,000kms on it.

Hey Matt,
Try Zaino Canada (http://www.zaino.ca/) .
They're in Guelph.
Claybarring your car will really make the colour pop! At least it did for mine.

Check out my GrandsOntario gallery (same username) to see what a claybar job and a coat of EagleOne NanoWax will do for an '01. I'm going to try Zaino in the spring now that it's available here.

I'm also going to be getting Zaino soon.

Right now I use all NXT stuff.

I would recommend NXT to anybody, with any car.

That wax is probably close to, or just as shiny as Zaino, and it lasts forever. I last waxed my silver, 2000 Grand Am GT in mid-July, and it still shines and sparkles like no other car when it comes out of the car wash, and that's saying something for having lived in Michigan, and now Minnesota, what with our winters.

I will say that the "ricey" "busy" bottle turned me off at first, but once I got it and saw the results, I've been sold on it ever since.

I recommend it far more than Gold Class, Zymol, Meguire's 3 Step, or Blue Coral.
