help, the blower motor works fine, and it puts out heat, but its like theres a sock stuck in the vents or something, if i have it on high it could maybe blow a feather.... its like only 5% is actually blowing into the car doesnt matter if its defrost vent or floor....
please help cause its cold in iowa without heat in the car!!!

When you move the temp switch from Cold to Hot there should be a vacuum sound in the dash. There is a small door in there that is moved by vacuum, one way heat gets in the other way air from the outside would (cold) are gets in.

ok... ive been doing some looking this morning....
i took the wiper cowl off and the blades and there is a door/flapper that if its shut i would think wouldnt let any air into the car, to i left it propped up with a screwdriver and ran the blower, still barley and air coming out of the vent/defrost/floor anything,
it does blow heat, its not that it doesnt, it just like its blowing enough to be on low out of the vents even when its on high
the blower works at all speed 1-2-3-4, it does change from hot to cold with the temp selector and it blows from all of the different selectors, defrost- floor and defrost, floor, vent.... etc.
its like a different flapper is stuck closed, somewhere under/in the dash.
Can anyone tell me how to get to them and do i have to take the console out. Is there a cabin filter that could be just absolutely clogged?
by the way, its a 1993 2 dr GT with 3.3l

If it is a flapper, the top portion of the dash (just above the instrument panel) comes off without removing any screws. its held in by velcro and metal clips, so just push straight up, then you will be able to check the flapper for proper operation.
the 1993's and some other models are known to have a clogged evaporator core.
its more than likely a clogged evaporator core.
so you have 2 options to try and fix it: one of them is going to be a Royal PITA, and the other is fairly simple.
Option 1:
Try the simple solution first:
on the firewall of your car, with the hood open, there is a black duct above the rack and pinion. Just below and to the left of the master cylinder there is the blower motor resistor which is a football shaped thing thats held in by 2 screws. remove that, and try and find a vacuum thats small enough to fit into the opening. If you take a flashlight and look through the opening it, you will be surprised to see your evap core completely clogged with crud :p
just keep prodding the evap core with a vacuum and try and get as much dirt and stuff off as possible: you will need a good vacuum for this, like a shop vac. something with LOTS of suction.
Option 2:
try and avoid it at all costs... its REALLY a PITA!
(I struggled to get my evap core positioned and back in for a looong time.)
If Option 1 does not work you will have to tear your center console out, remove the fan box cover, remoe the heater core, then remove another panel, then you can either discharge your AC and take out the evap core to clean it which is very difficult and will probably result in a valve in the evap core needing to be replaced, so just remove the bracket that hold the evap core lines, and pull the evap core out a few inches to allow you to get in there with compressed air / vacuum.

the evap core isnt hooked up in my car..... there was a moron that owned it before and half-assed everything he ever did to it, kinda pisses me off.... i think its probably in the dash somewhere i just want to know where the ductwork starts and goes, and which bolt/screws i need to take out.

From what I take from your post is that you have very little air flow at all settings? Yes, if so, your problem is not the "flapper" (blend door) it is your evaporator, it is clogged full of crap. You see, all air entering a 93 GA first goes through the evaporator, then the heater core if heat is desired, if not, it diverts away from the core to where it is needed. A redneck way to get it a little cleaner is to remove the fan motor resister pack, spray in the foaming type of cleaner (the H coil cleaner from Home Depot works best) wait 1 hour and with very little pressure, rince out with water (a garden sprayer works best) and repeat. The only other way is to replace the evaporator core. If you look in the hole after removing the resistor pack the evaporator should be a silver/goldish colour, I think it will be a black/greenish colour in your case, time to clean. This is a know problem in the 93 GA/Skylark.
