This morning (-8 outside) my car started odd too, it started fine but right as it first started it sounded like it was missing horribly for like 5 seconds and it was done and back to normal???
It has never done this before, although over the weekend I noticed a hose near my throttle body that is defiantly causing a vacuum leak, although I don't know what hose it is specifically, it looks to go from the Exhaust manifold to the intake (sounds odd?) It is only like 5 inches long, and if I move it at all with the car running it wants to die. Does anyone (2.4L) know what line I am talking about?
I was going to replace it since it seems so simple, but when I went to remove it one end didn’t want to budge and since I didn’t have the part yet I didn’t want to totally ruin my existing.
Would a vacuum leak cause the above “missing” condition?

Yeah, a vac leak could cause that symptom.
More likely, though, IMO would be a small air bubble in the fuel line (created by the overnight chill?), or some other freak occurence. More than likely, it won't repeat for several weeks, if ever.

I *think* that line would be for the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation), but IIRC the 2.4 doesn't have EGR?

In any case, repair the leak.
Silicone or superglue or tape are perfectly acceptable corrective fixes if done right.
Duct tape is kinda redneck, tho. :roll2:

Sounds like the EGR line. The only other possible line that runs that direction is the brake booster vacuum line, but that runs to the brake booster, not the exhaust manifold.

Yes, a vacuum leak will make it run rough.

It does on his 97. It was eliminated on the later ones.

I don't think it is the Brake Booster line, I thought that was a large hard line?
This is like an inch in diameter if that and like 5 inches long. I will probably use electricians tape for now, would that work till I get the replacement?
Thanks for the replies!
