There are so many to choose from around here - Mobil, BP, Sunoco, Shell, etc. What is the best if price is not a factor?

ETHANOL FREE!!!!! There are only two of those stations around here, don't care about price.. I always fill up at one of these two.

I use Meijers and BP... just depends on which one I am closer too at the time I need it... I like them both their gas seems to last just as long as the others although I found Marathon tends to get me crappy milage even if I baby the tank. Shell would be my 3rd choice. but I try not too. (money)

Well I have to use the Ethanol gas, usually I go to Shell, Conoco, BP, or Diamond Shamrock (Valero).
It depends on where I am.

Where do they sell Ethanol free gas? All of the pumps I go to have the little sticker that says "This pump dispenses up to 10% Etanol....." Blah Blah Blah.
Where do you get gas?

from what u said it sounded like u required it, lol.

i doubt anywhere close is ethanol free.

i use safeway gas with a lil STP injector cleaner every other tank

Yeah I guess it does huh? :)

Yeah I like Safeway too, it's nice to have a 3 cent discount, LOL!
But from what I have heard the gas ain't the greatest as far as refining is concerned, so I try to go to the more common places, BP, Shell, and Conoco.
I have a Citgo card as well for when I am broke.

the gas all comes from the same place. unless they are watering it down or not maintaning their tanks right, the only difference is the additive package. detergents for your injectors and such...

So each company has it's own process then correct?
Where can I go to campare results of these processes?

Bumpin1OHM

probably a google search or somethin. only reason u should notice a difference in performance/gas mileage if their octane levels are wayyyy off from a bad batch or they watered down their tanks or too much moisture accumulated.

Just run some top tier (http://www.toptiergas.com/) fuel and you should be fine. Check the retailers page on the link.

Sunoco or GetGo when I have enough to save.

I used Mobil twice and my GA started really rough with it so I stay far away from it.

Just a fyi - Safeway = Texaco/Shell. They use Texaco/Shell gas.

Thanks Jamie, I am no longer shy of putting the Safeway gas in my car.
Although I have a quick one for you:
Why is Shell considered Top Tier, but Texaco didn't make the list?

This isn't exactly true. You make it sound as if gasoline is mostly base gasoline ith a very small amount of additional chemicals. Gasolines all have different formulations. Base gasoline, before the additives are added, is a solution of many different compounds of hydrocarbons that the producers mix to produce the desired qualities such as octane level, volitility, burn quality, burn rate, etc. Then they add additives to get more specific qualites that they are looking for. Many times the additive package is a significant percentage of the total fuel volume. There is more to it than just an "additive package."

Also, if you are buying standard (87 octane) gasoline, it can be of any formulation, regardless of where you go. These are usually a mixture of base-stock formulated gasolines. That's why it seems "all the same." Also it may be why sometimes you go to a place and it seems like you got "bad gas." The only way to ensure that you are getting a consistant type of gasoline is to buy premium... not because of the octane rating, but because companies are under legal obligation to supply a specific formula to customers because they advertise that they are. Their advertised formulas are generally the mid-grade and premium gasolines (amoco ultimate, shell v-power, sunoco maximal, etc.) Premium gasolines are government regulated to ensure there is no "false advertising" going on. People actually come and take samples from tanks containing premium and test them to ensure that they are selling their own brand of gasoline. IF the formula differs, they get fined because they are not selling their specificly advertised formula of gasoline.

I have found shell and BP to be the most consistant and best in terms of fuel quality.

Me personally i work at Costco so i use costco gas and price wise, i cant beat it. Also i worked at the costco gas station and they have certain criteria that has to be met before the recieve the gas. Each delivery is tested before it is pumped into the tanks so that makes me feel better about accepting the gas. Im sure other gas stations have some sort of testing too but i just like the fact that i cant beat the price. Personally though i prefer Shell gas because my car likes to run like a raped ape after i fill up with a full tank of Shell Premium W/V-Power. Also thats all i ever use in my vehicles is premium, i dont care what anyone sais it makes a fuel injected car run better, but i have noticed it puts out quite a nasty smell when i punch it.

thats the most retarded statment ive ever read, Ethanol is the best thing to happen to gasoline since the invention of gasoline. Ethanol burns cleaner, keeps your fuel system clean, there isnt a bad thing about it.

Thats not entirely true either. Ethanol reduces some emissions, but increases others. If you really want I can read through my research paper and get some more specific info. Plus anytime I put ethanol in the bike, it would run like total ass for the next two tanks. But thats a carburated situation.

I stay away from ethanol in my car when I can, but dont go out of my way. We have a shell that is the only ethanol free around here that I can find. I work at mobil, but never seem to need gas when I'm working

exactly. ethenol in gasoline is a result of a bunch of lobbyists in congress because farmers had no other way to sell their corn and make a living... "better emissions" is a false claim they used to get their way.

ethanol is an oxygenated fuel and will make your vehicle run lean if it is carburated. fuel injected cars will be able to compensate.

My three carburated trucks that ive had ran just fine on ethanol and i did nothing to change the amount of fuel it got.

one of my dad's friends, use to drive trucks for a living and he would deliever fuel to the gas stations. Their is a major difference between top tier gas stations and crappy gas station. The better gas stations like sunoco, texaco, mobile, etc. mix the octane with the fuel at the refinery whereas gas stations like redners quick shoppe, cumberland farms gas, sheetz gas, getty, (convinent store gas) mix the octane with the fuel at the station. They have two seperate tanks in the grade. One is the fuel and the other is the octane. By mixing it at the actual gas station you may not be getting the full octane as the pump says. So i think it is worth spending the extra 3 or 4 cents to go to "top tier" gas stations as some one called them.

im going back to shell. milage has shot up alot since switching back to them. (or it was the seafoam that did it) but either way. *although bp usually has alot of cute girls pumping gas where shell doesnt*

hmmmm maybe back to bp i go.

hmm i live in canada, there's only Petro, Shell, Sunoco and a few other small places such as canadian tire and pioneer.

pioneer has shitty gas.. worst thing i ever put in my car. did it once, never again, Petro is pretty decent stuff, but if you want real clean gas Sunoco is the best bet, and who can beat a company thats got 94 octane :)

Dang, am I the only one that fills up at CITGO? I have no idea as to why I go there, maybe it's just a habit by now.

I am doing the same as Brandon.... My GT1 runs like a top with Shell gas. Maybe it is psychological, I don't know... but it runs great with Shell so that is what I stick with.

I use Citgo too!
But only when I am out of cash, I have a CC for Citgo.
Otherwise if I have a choice I use Shell.

I use Shell or CFN, my car seems to idle SO much better with Shell gas tho. My car seems a little more responsive with shell too, both stations gas is a similar price, but damn premiums getting more and more expensive!

I use either Chevron, Phillips, Valero gas. My car runs real well with any of these. And by the was Texaco is part of the Chevron gas company. The Logo is on my gas card.

Yeah, I fill up at Petro, just for the Petro-Points, free car washes like crazy. I used to work at Esso (Imperial Oil), and after my shifts, I'd drive across the street and fill up at Petro.
