I'll come back and put links later, but im also geting a Creative Zen Touch 20gig MP3 player to hold all my songs. im hoping for a good sounding system with plenty of thump, but I also dont want it clipping and distorting like the dumbasses around here that dont know how to do a decent install aka plane music..dumb asses.

Kenwood eXcelon is good stuff. Bostons are good (though I've never been a fan personally), not sure about the SL-60s but I'm sure they are good; CDT in the rear is an interesing choice (I would have just gone with no rear speakers at all).

Can't go wrong with the Orion amp :) But you may want to amp the speakers as well, and not just the subs--using a separate amp on the speakers (instead of the HUs built-in amp) will make a night and day difference. Plus 400W seems a little low powered for the subs (but then again it might be what those Bostons handle?); and, a Class D would be preferrable for running subs due to better efficiency.

But all in all you look like you're in good shape. :)

^LOL Sorry, I guess those lines were so similar I only saw the 4002 listing. Even looking back at it I had to look for a few seconds to see the 4004, LOL.

well, im getting that 4002 refurbed for $100. and I dont want my subs overpowering anyway, I hate that when I get in someones car and all i can here and feel is buuuHHH!!! buhhh buhh. cant even think to myself.

I want to set my soundstage, get good response, good sql. Im putting the subs there for lowerend extension and to feel the bass. want to here my music over the bass.

I dont want kickers, cause i think they are overpriced, and alpines look like crap and sound like it from what my friends have, although they dont know what the hell they were doing, and wouldnt let me help 'em so **** them.

The orion amps (from what ive hear) are underrated and have been told by many poeple that that amp will put out 300watts per channel rms easy at 2 ohms. and again, not too woried about having my subs godly loud. just have em ready for some punk to start talking shit about his one kick L5 on a cheapass amp with a rating of 1500 watts max thats probably putting out 300 watts. but his box wont be designed for the woofer or tuned, so mine will still sound better and mayber louder if i pull it off.

Good deal on the amp :)

If you want a good soundstage I'd really recommend not getting the rears, or at least fade it to the front when there is no one in the back. Are those CDTs a component set or are they coaxials?

If you think about it L5s and L7s aren't really overpriced at all. They are very competent subwoofers at their price points. As are the even cheaper Comp VRs... But yes you're right everyone and their grandma has Kickers, lol. Alpine Type-Rs are also pretty decent. Believe it or not, most subs (provided we're talking about decent subs here) don't sound any different in terms of sound quality. The only thing that changes the sound is whether the enclosure is built well and to the right specifications (much easier with a sealed box) and if the amp is sufficient to power them. As you said if someone doesn't know what they are doing--have a bad/mismatched enclosure, has their gain setup incorrectly, etc. it is likely going to sound bad.

Well yes Orions are underrated but first of all we're talking about a DEI Orion, right? The newer silver ones right? The 4002 will be underrated but I wouldn't put it at 300Wx2, though it might be close to that, yes. I'd still recommend Class D but since you're getting a nice deal on it and it looks like you're gonna have two 2 Ohm loads for the subs, it'll be harder to find a Class D in that power range to do a 1 Ohm load.

It does sound like you know what you're doing so far though ;) so I'm sure it will come out nicely :) Is this your first stereo install?

I've installed for friends, and build stereo speakers (enclosure+driver) for myself and friends.

I want to do this install up, this will be the most expensive install ive done yet. since my friends dont know how to manage there money all to well. lol.

the CDT's are componet. im not putting coaxials in my car. I didnt get as nice speakers for the rear b/c im barely ever gonna hear them.

but you'd be amazed how good you can make a set of stereo speakers sound with even low grade speakers (~$35) and a good enclosure that you spent some time designing on winISD.

Im thinking of doing a wedged box with a 3" lip. I like the looks of them. and im gonna be trying to stealth the subs, so i don't want them firing right into the MDF/Carpet frame that im making to stealth the install to the naked eye. and im gonna make the panel removable if i wanna show the install off. and im gonna dynamat the trunk, rear deck, and door panels.

yeh, i have my system faded way to the front already right now. I just like them their for a little reinforcement and also for the friends when they wana ride with me.

yeh, i know the L5, and 7's will perform, but i dont have a need for it, nor do i want to buy an amp that will drive them. I think they are fine for spl competitions and the like, but thats not what im into right now.

can anyone get me a pic of a metra install kit used on their car? preferably a 99-3320

yup, i got my crutchfield mastersheets today that i ordered. figured out why i couldnt ever get my backseat pulled apart. apparently you have to take the seatbelt lug out to get the backseat out. i would of never thought that. oh well. now im not so worried about ding it since i know how to take it apart now. my wiring harnes and hu soft case will be arriving the 9th and 13th, the harness was outa stock when i ordered it.

need to book it to pe and order some heat shrink and a few other speaker box componets as well as some dynomat, which brings me to my question. is dynomat any better than any other asphault sheet or is it worth the extra money. because i can get a lot more stuff for the same amount of money if i go a different brand and for the power im putting to the equipment, i dont think that absolute damping is nescesary.

Hey wait before you go and remove the seats and seatback to get to the 6x9s... Do you have the 60/40 split folding seat? If you do you don't have to take the rear seat/seatback out to get to the 6x9s. It is rather hard to do it this way but it can be done--I've done it twice and never removed the seats :)

Dynamat is not really any better. It is good stuff, but expensive. You can get a lot more of something like Raamat 60 or Raamat BXT than Dynamat Extreme, for the same money. I'd definitely recommend Raamat; there are a few other effective dynamat alternatives as well. Elemental Designs has their eDead line and there are a couple other companies out there. If you're installing a component set in the doors, though, the most important place for sound deadening is the doors.

Deadening the doors makes a night and day difference when you have a moderate amount of power going to a good component set. Just installing the speakers in the doors and not deadening will simply not do justice to a higher end component set.

I dont have a folding seat, from what ive seen. there arent any pull tabs or anyhting to get it to fold down, so im gonna have to take it apart.
