View Full Version : Sirius radio hook up question

Did a quick search, couldnt find an answer anywhere. Ive got a pioneer deck 6700mp. Todays I hooked up the sirius stuff, and it all works great, all except that my subs wont work when im on the aux channel on my deck. Subs work fine when im playing a cd, or listening to the local radio.
Current setup: sirius RCAs going into the aux input, subs on output.
Sounds like a setting on the deck to me, but I cant see where to change it. Any ideas?

you may need to use the rear output as sub out, and the sub out for the sirius. they make a pioneer to sirius tuner that uses the same din cable as the changer just like the xm does. search for

Never came across this problem before.
As far as I know that headunit dosen't have an Auxillary input In order to do so you will need another part that plugs into your IPbus port and gives you a true Auxillary audio input.
What sirius unit are you using? I'm guessing its not a Pioneer direct link tuner

hmm thanks for the info man, If i get that Ill wait before investing in it though, everything works perfectly except the subs.. Id wait on it, just because I want to try the service out for a month to be sure I like it enough to keep it permanently.
I think i may have found something in the settings though that can allow me to bypass this. I think I can cange the preouts for the auxillary from the preout:full setting to preout:s/w. Im going to play with it more tomorrow and see (too late tonight to screw with it) and ill post up whatever comes of it.

http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&productId=12572&langId=-1 This is the part I have, im just curious as to why it works when i plugged it into the back of my deck, if i needed that tuner?
I mean, I can live without my subs when im listening to it, but theyd be nice to have:)

Yeah the poineer sirius tuner is about 100.00 and on the website says that it doesn't show every detail onscreen.
I just switch to sirius from xm.... it's different

your first problem is you have a pioneer  switch to clarion :D
but for real it sounds like one of the pins in the cable that runs from the sirius box to the deck could be bent. i think they are like a 7 or 10 pin plug

Yeah thats the part I was talking about. A while back I did DSR in a customers car with a pioneer headunit...same thing like you have going on here... and the switchable AUX function of the deck would only play his satalite radio at one volume. Used the part I mentioned and everything was good after that.

The set up hes using dosen't use a DIN plug like you might be thinking of. It's linked to the headunit through the headunits Auxilliry input (which happens to be switchable with this pioneer) by using an 1/8" headphone jack to RCA plug. Usually works good, but for good operation of Pioneer Auxillary functions, you need another component.
(see my last post) :)

ok my bad for not looking at that link. but that box thing on the left i was saying might have a bad pin on either side. maybe you just need a new plug

No I figured out whats going on, i just need to get the IPBus adapter. For better or worse, Ive got the rcas from the sirius plugged into the front pre-outs on the deck, and everything works fine with the exception of the subs, which just arent picking up any sound with how Ive got it hooked up. I ordered the adapter today, should be here soon enough, and that'll fix the issue.. Thanks guys
