Wanna get some bigger rims, and not sure how big is too big?

Id say 19s will fit with out any problems, but a couple guys have had 20s on a 92-95 supposedly without problems. Now if you want just the appearance factor of riums, then get some blang blang chrome rims, but if you are liooking more toward performance, then get some nice 17 or 18 inch rims that accent the car well and weigh less than the stock rims.

I'd recommend sticking with 17's or 18's.
IMO 17" is big enough on the smaller chassis of the 92-98 gen. 18" is certainly fine, although my opinion is that you can achieve the best look+price+weight+ride quality+handling balance with the a 17" setup.
19's - 20's can have been done before... but how can I say... it's not the most "practical" solution.

Oh yea, I forgot about the price factor!! For comparison, I spent 400$ for 17'' gunmetal enkei rims (no cheap one-offs) WITH tires (50% tread left) - and most 19-20'' rims (without tires) go for upwards of 150 a rim, then another 100 per tire since the larger-sized tires cost more! I cant even find a decent tire for my 17'' without spending atleast 90 per tire. (then again, I like the slightly wider tires, 215/225/235mm)

it has been my experience that
18x7.5 will fit no problem (as i can personally attest to that)
19x8 with a drop MIGHT cause rubbing issues as me and my buddy who has this setup have found out (he also has a coil cut from his eibach springs, so who knows if they'll fit with drop srpings that haven't been cut)

for 19"s or 20"s your looking at 250-500 per wheel depending on what brand you go with, then tires are about 650-1000 depending on the brand, 2 years ago i paid $2400 on some 19" diablo's with pirelli's, now they go for about $2200

1500 for my rims, 17x7.5 TenzoR Shu4's wih Nanking(i think thats how they spell it) sports, 21/45r17's. and that was back in feb 2002. and they rode fine. never noticed rubbing, but they havent been on since the drop.

you may be able to do some 225/30/20"s on there with no problems they measure at 25.35" in diameter, not sure what the stock diameter on a 94 is though

anything bigger then 18s just doesnt look right on our cars, imo......

got 18's on mine,no rubbing issues what so ever with 225/40/18 tires. IMO,some 19inch rims can look good. Theres a black 96-98 AED Grand Am that has 5 spoked silver alloy's that are 19's and they look badass. Hell, even Wes(FlatlineGA) has 19's on his and look pretty sweet. You just have to find the right sized tire.

Go with 18s, 17s are too small, 19s look good too but 18 is the most comfortable.

17's arnt too small, sure arnt too small on my car.

damn right, my 17s are great, but then again - its mostly persnal preference unless you have shows in mind (then get as large as humanly possible in chrome) or if you wish to participate in road race events, auto X, drag racing, etc, then you would want the LIGHTEST rim possible since the least amount of rolling mass possible. The stock rims weigh in at about 28 a piece with tires mounted, IIRC.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you. I have 17's and I dont think they are too small, not even a little bit. I think maybe I could have went with 18's but I'm very happy with 17's

but is he lowered?
VanishingImage
12-18-2005, 04:51 PM
if he is I would have to think its got Eibachs, anything other spring there would be some rubbing issues.
GTon9teens
12-18-2005, 09:48 PM
one issue would be, the fenders obove the wheel, if you hit a bump too hard, you can risk damaging them, or your rims or tires, either or, gota be carefull when lowering and going big, which im sure its alot stiffer ride, and has less give, but still you hit a huge dip or somthing going quick and it could be bad, that GA is lookin tight though, we did 20"s on a 94 camry, he hit a bump and his back fender hit his tires and scrapped up the sidewall pretty bad on the tire, had to roll the fenders and put a small lift on the rear end, problem solved
look at the back wheel/ tire, imagine hitting a hard bump or dip, could be costly

that my only worry with lowering. I bent 2 of my 17" rims this summer hitting pot holes
litdevil316

bent my driver side front rim going down a gravel road and hit a pothole that had a rock in it. bent the rim jus enuff to let air out as it rolled and the weight was off the dent.
