What's your guys' opinion on after-stock moonroofs? is it a good idea or not? I've heard a couple people say that if you go with an after-stock one.. they leak and whatnot.. because the GT that i'm looking at has no moonroof and i wanted one REALLY bad.. sooo just wanted all yur guys' opinions and how much you would expect it to cost for buying it and the labor... :P

They're ok.. A lot floppier than the stock ones.. But I've never heard of anyone having a problem with them :D Maybe look around for a GT with a sunroof.. All the ones I looked at had them :D

I agree, stock ones are better and whatnot.. but you see i'm gett'n a hell of a deal on this car.. 15,000 miles.. 2003 grand am GT PERFECT condition.. nothin wrong with it.. and i'm gett'n $3500 for my car.. which needs some interior fixing badly.. so its like.. i dont really want to look for another car.. cause idk where else to find a 2003 with that low of miles.. i'd LOVE to find a GT with the SC/T style hood.. but all of the ones around here are 2 doors and i want a 4-door ((due to me hauling my neice and nephew around an assload)) i was surprised when he said it didnt have a moonroof.. but he said he would try and contact a place in DBQ, IA that he knows real good and try n get me a deal.. so we'll see how it goes..
but hey.. thanx 4 the opinion :P much appreciated!

my parents were looking into having a moonroof installed on another vehicle... they got a quote to have it professionally done ~$1000

You don't even know how much it would of cost to t-top my friends station wagon.... But, Dave's quote can go up or down depending on the place. Here's what you should do, get a stock one out of a junkyard, tell the places that you call for a quote that you have the parts, just need it installed. It should make it a lot cheaper for you.

um so anyway stock is not always better
here's what you need to look at
Cost --> as with ANYTHING you get what you pay for
Labor -> most shops (round me at least) usually just charge one flat fee... like they'll say XX brand XXX price INSTALLED. If not, they may charge more for installation
Quality of shop --> any idiot can grab a saws-all and put a hole in a lambo roof (as seen on mtv)... if its a reputable shop that knows what they are doing, a glass-roof install should be a cake walk for them, and you shouldn't have any leaking
