ummm, LOL, i got some bad news for ya. Changing the final drive gearing will be a nightmare. The ring and pinion, such as they are in a FWD trans, are bolted into a very tight area, where there is little room for improvement. A shop would charge a friggin fortune to change them out, and most would not even touch the job. I did this to a taurus SHO and replaced it with a shorter gear from an asian car using the same trans and i will NEVER do it again for any price. We had to pull the trans, COMPLETELY disassemble it, then basically hand machine the case to take the larger ring assembly, then reassemble it, then install it in the car. It doesnt sound like alot, i know, but book time roughly figured was about 22 hours. The gain was noticeable in acceleration, but those little 3 liter yamaha 4 cam motors revs freely to well over 7K with a 7,250 fuel shut-off. Trust me, if you wanna get into changing the gears, get a firebird/ camaro/ mustang, you'll invest about 250, and 3 hours and get close to a second off your quarter mile ET's depending on what it had before and what you put in.

Well and also you have to consider,do the people at those places know about the trans on our cars? I'm looking to change my gears to,just have to find the place that knows about the transmission you have and the expirence they have,if they refuse it means they don't know much and don't wanna screw your car up which is actually a good thing for our pockets.

umm...I thought the SHO's came with the standard taurus transmission just the Yamaha engine? What foreign car uses a transmission out of a taurus of all cars? My friend has taken his 93 SHO into the tranny shop 6 times now do to that shitty tranny.
