Been running (rich as @$#*) on the ricer AutoZone $19.99 air filter for about a month when the thing finally busted a big crack in itself today. It literally imploded. Just a word of caution not to go with that filter if you're short on cash. If you've got a GT, go with stock or a CAI with a GOOD filter (K&N, Apexi, etc)..if you've got an SE with the 3400, upgrade to Ram Air or CAI, again with good filter either way.
In other words, you get what you pay for.:banghead:

what I dont get, is people buy these cheap 3a racing filters, when I got my Tenzo R and my ractive sponge filter for the same price. $19.99 at any local motorsports shop.

I too have been running this filter for about 3 months and have gotten nothing but benifits. I have a few friends running it also. May be you just got a bad one.

Well it was my first aftermarket filter and i was in the transaction between the quick short ram til i can get an AEM short ram(im just using stock rubber hose with air box off) plus i couldn't find the right K&N cone filter.

I used to have one of those hooked onto my intake for about 3 months with no problems. Maybe because the 3400 sucks in more air than the 3100 and the 4-cyls and it couldn't handle it. The $20 cone was ok, I got some more power from it, but now I got a k&n cone which is far better performance wise and re-useable. It only cost me $30 new, so your always better off spending the little extra for a k&n.

Yeah look on eBay and find a quality K&N filter... I bought mine for $27 shipped (which is barely more than the other one) and mine is a beastly cylinder filter (6" long, 5" diameter).

I have one of those k&n cylander filters around, but I'm using a cone right now. Since the k&n's are reusable you can get one off ebay and clean it off and it will be like it just came out of the plastic bag in the k&n box.
Just another person say that the AUTOZONE filter has done NOTHING for me but ROCK ON. I had one in my jeep before the GA and I loved it there to. Sounds Great and I think it works better then RAM Air. I put a post on the frist time I put it on.

Of course it works better because it's less restictive. I felt the same way you did about the autozone filter, but wait till you try a k&n cone filter, you'll love the power it gives you over that autozone crap. :agree: You'll also like the gas mileage. When I put on the autozone filter I went down to 18mpg, but when I went with k&n I went back up to 20mpg....that's where I was with the stock airbox.
