Do you have a Haynes Manual? It should have the procedure.

For *most* transverse engines, step 1 in replacing the harmonic balancer is to lower or raise the engine so the crank snout clears the frame rail.

'Conventional' pullers are for fore-aft engines (usually with the radiator removed) or for engines already out-of-the-car and mounted to an engine stand.

Maybe there's a special puller for the near-zero clearance of a V-6, or special procedure for the 3.3.
Sorry, I dunno.

Good luck,

You will first need to remove the bolt. the bolt is torqued down to approx 220 ft-lbs at the factory, and over the years it probably got somewhat seized in place. you will need a powerful impact gun and air compressor, OR a breaker bar, a pry bar, and some strong friends.

once the bolt is removed you will most likely need a puller tool to remove the harmonic balancer. I personally bought one for $20 at canadian tire. there are multiple sized bolts it comes with which you screw into the balancer, but they will probably be too big, so you will have to find 3 smaller bolts (size 8 i think?) and some washers to use with the puller.

this is the puller I used:

Harmonic Balancer Puller (http://www.canadiantire.ca/assortments/product_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=140847439 6669504&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474396670271&bmUID=1136851588818&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442152347&assortment=primary&fromSearch=true)

DO NOT attempt to pry the balancer off, as you might pull on the crankshaft messing up the allignment / damaging seals.

once you get the puller secured and installed, tension it up and it should pop off.

reinstallation is alot more simple because there is a woodruff key secured into a flat on the end of the crankshaft (do not remove it) ensuring the balancer goes back on the exact way it came off. Other engines, it is usually not as easy.

good luck!

hope this helps.

The small bolts need to be 6mm and they screw in under the slots in the balancer ( hard to see ).

so, you have replaced the crank position sensor?

also, what was the problem prior to you replacing the crank position sensor?

Make sure you have the right balancer.

There was a change from 92 to 93, the 93 balancer should have 18 slots in the outer ring on the under side of it, a 92 has only one slot that my be why only 3 and 5 are sparking.
