My trunk leaks. I noticed my car was smelling awfully bad back there the other day so I did some snooping and found a mess. My spare tire well was a small pond about an inch deep. The carpet was soaked so I have removed all the carpet from the trunk and powerwashed it. My seal was worn in a couple spots so I ordered a new one to replace it. I am also wondering if water is coming in around the tail lights so I am looking in to that. It is rainy and snowy here today in MO so I am not getting much done.
Here is a pic...

Welcome to the trunk & interior leak club.
Check your taillights too. If there's any broken mounts, water will get in easily. This was the source of the leak on my 94. The source of the leak on my 95 was an improperly sealed rear window.
Good luck.

Yup, I thought I found a new meaning for the term "car pool" until I drilled a hole in the lowest part of the trunk.
Hasen't filled up again... yet:lol:
I had the same problem. Just dried it out each spring & carried on. I always expected a rust out but it never happened. I just sprayed it with Trem Clad anti-rust paint.
I never found out the source of the leak.

If it's any help, I have found the best way to get rid of that musty smell is to spray the car with Ozium odor eliminator. That stuff works fantastic, and it is used in offices and hospitals quite a bit.
I like it because it doesn't "cover up" the smell; it eliminates them.....
I found it in the auto department in WalMart, but it should be in any autp parts place. Spray the hell out of your car when you park it for the night; keep the windows closed and let the Ozium do its' thing. You'll be surprised in the morning; the smells should be gone.
I like the Ozium "new car smell" scent myself.
Ya' know how good that Ozium works? Somebody puked in my beloved Trans Am many years ago so I bought the Ozium, and also one of those christmas tree air fresheners. I saturated my car with the Ozium and also hung up that air freshener. The next morning, all the smell was gone......not only the nasty vomit smell, but it totally removed all the scent from that air freashner too ! It works really that good...
(gee, they should pay me for this advertisement, lol:lol: )
Anyways, hope this might help you out for that musty odor problem....
