I live in IL and received an emissions testing notice.. The way they do it in IL is that they test the OBD system. If there is no SES light, then you will pass. Well, I have an aftermarket HID kit, and I pulled my DRL relay so that I can control the HID's operation and they don't just automatically turn on. Here's my question, will the SVS light on, cause me to fail the emissions test? The SES light is NOT ON, but the SVS stays on all the time.. Will this cause codes to be thrown, will fail the test? please help me.

Patience, young grasshopper :roll2: :D :D
The inspectors don't just look at the dashboard to see if the SES light is 'on' or not.
An unscrupulous person could bust the lamp so that it *appeared* not to shine.
They WILL plug an OBD-II scanner into the the port, and read the Powertrain Control Module (PCM, the GA's engine/tranny computer), checking for stored codes relative to EMISSIONS.
The smog nazis aren't concerned with burned-out car lamps (which is what you BCM (Body Control Module) is indicating with its stored codes and SVS lamp 'on'.
Tho the Car Inspection Safety Nazis might have a problem with that, if your state has such inspectors; I dunno, AZ doesn't.
Now, that's what is *supposed* to happen, based on the entire EPA concept of requiring the OBD-II 'universal diagnostics'.
In AZ, they also do a visual check and a 'sniffer' check af ALL vehicles to make sure the systems haven't been compromised.
IL may single your vehicle for a more thorough examine because of the 'SVS' light kinda waving a 'Red Flag'.
Or, they may just be jerks and flunk you 'cuz it's a full moon. Who knows??
Can't you do something to turn the SVS light 'off' and eliminate the problem altogether?
Seems to me that a constanly-glowing SVS light would be a PITA.
Hope this helps.
