I found out after a nice trip to GA that my car leaks. I came home to find a nice deep puddle of water on the passenger side floor. I noticed water coming from under the dash and the door. I know the car was in a bad accident, but didn't know how bad it was until it was too late and I owned it. I will be putting it in the shop next week to get the basics of the car in perfect condition. Now everytime it rains I find water in the car
Why me?

I have a 98SE and had the same issue. I noticed water bubbling over my floor mats in the beginning of winter and when I lifted up the mat I noticed the carpet was saturated to the point where it was starting to accumulate on top of the carpet itself. I dried the water with a couple of towels and vacuum the carpet dry thinking it was melted snow, then the next wet day it was saturated again, along with part of the passengers side. Finally I had enough and a few days ago took it to a body shop where I found out there was a hole corroded through where the wires enter the cab under the cowling and two major holes in the firewall where the water would flow in and it started playing havoc with my lights. They sealed it up and secured my wiring and the carpets have been dry ever since and the electrical is perfect.

As you said I would take it somewhere to get it looked at if everything else with the car is in good condition.

After researching the issue on the forum it seems like a lot of at least the 90's model GA's have this issue.

Same problem here with my 99. The problem was that the sealing strip at the bottom of the windshield on the pass. side was loose. This allowed the water to flow under it and in the the blower motor fan, from there it found its way down the inside of the firewall to the pass. footroom.
My solution was to remove the trim entirely, clean all the surfaces and reinstall using the black windshield adhesive in a caulking tube. Since then no water issues!
Now it was all for nothing since my windshield has cracked and I'll be getting it replaced soon.

My first thought was that it was my windshield or an uneducated guess of a hole in the floor. When I took it to the bodyshop they found there was a hole under the cowl in the top right corner on the drivers side where the wires feed into the cab, also there was a hole in the middle of the firewall just above the floor. The body shop I went to sealed it with 3M Sealent and we've had snow and rain and haven't had a trickle of water come in yet. Knock on wood.

I actually put it in the shop today. The first thing he said it might be is the seal on the windshield also. He's gonna check it out and let me know later on today. I hope it's something easy and cheap.
With my luck it won't be.
