Hi
i was wondering if anyone has found a way to remove the pin striping off the 4th gen grand ams... i have tried a rubber wheel made for removing pin stripng and decals but did not work, does anyone know if they are painted on or if they are vinal? and how to remove them. thanks for any ideas.

they should be vinyl...mine were.

-blowdryer to heat pinstripe
-pick at it and peel it off with your fingernail
-use goo-gone to remove the adhesive that is left over
-wash and wax to protect the area and you should be good to go

they sell plastic razor blades, i use them all the time at work to take other dealers sticks off cars we get in. But the key is to get it hot with a blow dryer (we use a head gun at work) just dont burn it up or your mom/sister/wife/gf/whoever will be mad.

Mine never had pin stripes.. or is it the only SE version Grand Am's that had it?

^ Hmm, from Ryan's post it seems his car had them? (And his is a GT...)

Mine didn't have them but when I bought my car in late 97, I noticed that the 98 SEs all had them--talk about weird those pinstripes. Only one thing came to mind when I saw them... "Why?!?"

or use it in the garage to debadge the car, leave it in the garage next to car, and have wife run it over and break it with the rodeo...they aren't to fond of that either

sorry randy for hijacking the thread, just had to add that comment....
