Guess you can say I'm heartbroken, but grateful at the same time. I live just north of Atlanta, GA and was on my way home from work this past Thrusday in rush hour traffic on I-75. The car to my left (a silver Scion) swerved into my lane, I reacted and swerved to my right - well I was going about 70 mph and I lost control of the car and it spun two lanes over into a semi truck - head on. I think bounced back and landed just inches from the median wall - God was most definately watching over me. I walked away without a scratch, but the GT is in not so good shape. I'm sad to say that I think the insurance company is going to total it out, but nothing offical yet. I'm gonna try to attach some pix to this post, if it doesn't work I'll post another - just keep in mind after you see the pix, I walked away from this without a scratch. The Grand Am GT is one hell of a car! ~ Laura

Well I guess I can only attach one pic, so you can check out the rest @ http://www.cardomain.com/id/lilniemo

Yeah, found one not too far from where my parents live up north. It's an '03 GT w/35,000 miles - for like $11,800. Not sure if I'm going to get that one or look around a bit more.

I am located in Snellville, so I guess we are neighbors:)

I feel for you though. As I said before in another post, a car can be replaced; but a life cannot. I have been in my fair share of wrecks and am thankful that no one was hurt.

Yeah I'm definately THANKFUL to be alive right now. I miss my car - they haven't officially totaled her out yet, I wish I could fix her - she was a great car! I do have my eye on one up north not too far from where my parents live, here's a link to the website for it: http://www.makiauto.com/DisplayVehicle.aspx?VehicleId=373 - looks like a good deal, but I'll keep my eyes open for the next week or so. I've got to get a car soon because I have nobody to rely on down here. No family and the only friends are the people I work with (I just moved down here a few months ago). If any of the neighbors out there know of any GT's for sale around Atlanta let me know! Thanks much!

One of the tails is in tact - no scratches, but the other one is scratched to hell and the backside is cracked. Definately going to need another set.

If the insurance company isn't going to give you much you should think about just asking for the car back. Then you could get another one of the same year and put all you aftermarket stuff from the wreck on to your new one.

Well I've got the bad news - the insurance company totaled her. The good news is they are giving me $6400, but after my deductible it's only going to be $5900. So good and bad, after that I'm still going to owe $480 on my GT which leaves me with ZERO for a down payment on a new car - UGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Won't somebody cut me a break! I've got like a week to find a car 'cause I'm going on orders for 3 weeks starting the 19th of February and I don't want to be stuck with the rental. Anybody out there who knows where I can get an '00 or newer GT with under 40,000 miles at a decent price hook me up!!! Thanks much for all the posts/replies ~ Laura

R.I.P. GT #1 - we had a good ride :)

Hey guys - I've got good news after a bad week. Monday I'm picking up my '03 Grand Am GT with the SC/T package! :D I'm soooooooooo happy!! Went to the wrecker yard to pull out my head unit and a few other things from my old GT - it was a pretty somber morning, I'm gonna miss that car! Well here's a picture of my new ride - I'll have more up on my website sometime in the next week after I bring her home. ~ Laura

Very nice choice! Only thing is that those aren't the proper wheels for an '03 GT. Still, the car looks clean and straight, and you gotta love the SC/T package. :D

Well I finally picked her up today and brought her home - any ideas of what to start modifying first? I just hit 34,000 driving home and she's immaculate inside and out! :) Yay, me so happy ~ finally something good!
