Hello Everyone, I would like to introduce myself into the Owners Club, I just aquired my First Grand Am Yesterday and I am very excited

This i my first relatively new vehicle, I had a older car before.

Here are some pictures I took and I would like to share with you.

I am not very mechanically inclined when it comes to Cars, but I am excited to modify it cosmetically.

My plans are, Tinted windows, chrome tip exhaust, Grill Kit, possibly hood scoops (fake or real haven't decided)

Any suggestions would be greatly appriecated

Welcome to the wonderful Grand Am community. Sounds like you have some decent things planned. As for the hood scoops, i'd recommend NOT getting stick ons. IMO, they look real tacky. They make a few different hoods for our car but the most popluar are the SD hood and the SC/T hood. They both look good but I'm partial to the SD hood. (gee, I wonder why!) :)

thanks for the feedback on the hood, where can I find information about purchasing a new hood, any online stores?

Also I took a look at your pics you have a really nice car, I don't see myself going as fas as you have in the exterior modding as you have done, but I am looking to set it appart from the stock GT as best I can, without breaking my wallet.

those are the chrome rims that came with the car, they aren't polished up.

I bought some polish but was too damn cold to do it today

first off cheapest mods shave badges and clear tails then take a spray can to the interior

XavierYZ

forgive me if this is a stupid question, but you are suggesting I spray paint to the interior?

Also you think I should remove all the badging from the car, like the stock GRAND AM GT signage?

Forgive my ignorance, Never had any real intrest in car modding until yesterday so its all new to me

not just any paint some interior paint like krylon and you have two options you can keep everything textured or you can sand it smooth then paint it. and i dont mean everything stuff like radio bezel heater vent rings door handle cups speaker pods just small stuff like that. and if your going to shave it it is up to you i shaved everything but alot of people leave the gt. and if your not going to buy aftermarket tails then def clear the ones you have

Just looking at the clear tails, they do look sharp, altezza tail lights are the ones I was looking at. If I choose to keep the ones I have, how would I clear the ones I have? scrap the insides?

Well I was thinking about doing that, but this car has the 8 speaker monsoon stereo and I am pretty happy with the quality of sound its putting out. Perhaps that might be something I am intrested after I do a few exterior mods first

Do you not like the monsoon?

I'm thinking of getting a new hood, as well.. Best place I found for one, paid and shipped was here (http://www.carpartswholesale.com/). Either that or maybe a local junk-yard with an intact hood.

The first thing I've done in all my cars was the stereo system unless the car was a total POS. Then it was left alone and I had alot of fun in the fields :)

Don't do anything.

Look around for a month or so and copy ideas and pictures into a folder or file.

You're new and there are many options, pick and choose the ones that suit you.

There's a half dozen hoods, four or five tail lights, hundreds of interior color options and scads of stuff that you have never thought of.

Take your time, poke around and learn.

Welcome.

^^ :agree: You'll find your own way, things that you like over others :) Like me personally, I like the Monsoon system.. Get to know your car, your needs and tastes before you change too much :D

Looks great!

Except.. what's up with your reverse lights in your bumper.. they're kinda.. black?

That car has a nice ass. Ypu know what they say, you can make the front of the car look nice, but it's the rear they'll be seeing :)

I took a look at those today after you mentioned that, It appears that the insides are stained a bit.

Maybe replace them in the future, for something alot nicer, I think I am gonna go with the clear tail lights after I tint the windows.

I am gonna try to get them done this weekend, 20% tint is what I am thinking. I don't want to restrict my night driving too much as I have a hard time seeing at night as it is

^^ I would take his advice, I did just that, and I am very pleased with the results. Take many ideas, and shape them into what you want your car to look like. You'll be pleased with the results, I know I am!

i got a set of ICPW tail lights from RKsport. they look great. as for the sound system, i added a aftermarket head unit, and a pair of subs and amp. the factory sound speakers are great though. they make great mids and highs to match a pair of decent subs. and like several others said, most everything else, (ex. rims, body kits, interior) is really preference on what you like. its a blank slate have fun with it. and welcome to the forum.
