I think I read this somewhere, but when I searched I couldn't find the post.
If I get lowering springs do I also need to buy new struts?

When i get lowering springs i'm planning on getting new strut/shocks too.I have also read numerous times that you should replace them plus mine are stock so its about time to replace them.Trav

If you are lowering you should change your struts. BUT, you could get away with stock struts for a little while if they don't have too many miles on them. I would rather do the whole process once instead of 2 or 3 times, so if it were me, I would change them.

k...well my stock ones have never been changed as far as i know, and it's creeping up on 108k
Man... replace them, then :)
Some springs are designed to work well with stock struts, and don't need new, aftermarket struts to work well. Other ones will blow out stock struts in short order, and require aftermarket struts.
The above is true for Subarus; I have no idea what's available for GA's, so take it with a grain of salt.

It's time to replace em. Even if there's some life left, lowering springs will do a number on em quick.
The go hand-in-hand for the simple fact that the struts need to be removed to change the springs anyway... might as well do everything at once and only need 1 ailignment afterwards.

Yea, I didnt do it right - in fact im STILL not doing it right, I have my blown front struts complete with 101K miles of age and destruction behind them with my eibach springs. 2 alignments later, my strut mount bearings are so worn out, my car drifts slightly, its an odd situation to describe, but to say the least its not very fun to drive my car right now... I replaced the shocks, though :D
however, there is no toe in/out adjustment for the rear of these cars obviously, and thusly my toe is ever so slightly out of spec, and there is no way to fix it (or so my alignment specialist said)

Meh. 145K on stock struts/shocks. Maybe 60K of that with Intrax springs. Mushy is an understatement... they are on my ever-growing list of things I need to replace to get the car into shape again.

Lowering springs will reduce the distance required for the shocks to "bottom out". Instead of say 3" of travel till fully compressed, they will only have to travel 2" to compress fully. (arbitrary numbers) Its always best to find a shock that is made for the lower suspension, or one with a higher compression rate.

Fence. Have you thought about shimming the rear bearings to get the proper angle. Since I replaced my stock springs and struts the alignment shop told me that camber is not adjustable. But there was a post on Quad4forums about shimming the fronts to get camber. Maybe it will work on the back too. I hope spring gets here soon, I need to get some work done on my car. lol. BTW, my strut mount bearings are shot also. Sorry to high jack the thread, carry on.

Well I was told yesterday that since it's lowered, the stock struts are having to work alot more to keep up with the new springs, thus wearing them out really quick...so I guess it would be entirely nessesary unless I want to find myself stuck along the side of the road somewhere.
