as the title says i think i have something wrong with my gas petal. I was driving today and felt a pop with my foot on the gas and the gas pedal suddenlly dropped down about half way between the floor and the level the break petal sits. Well i hit the clutch and tryed pulling the gas petal up with the other foot thinking it stuck down. I noticed though the car wasn't reving so i pushed on the gas petal now half way down and let off the clutch and drives fine just now with the petal low and lots of side to side play.

I looked in the haynes manual for anything about the gas petal and its not even listed. I went down to a tire shop that does light repairs and said that there is possible a bracket back there or a bolt the holds the pivot section on that might have crack or lost a bolt.

Im wanted to know if this is possible true and the best way to fix it, does anyone else have this problem?

Thanks for any info.

I haven't heard of this problem with the GA, but I have had it in the past on a couple other older cars I owned.
They were carb'd engines with mechanical rod/lever throttle linkages.

The GA has a throttle cable that goes from the Throttle Body, thru the firewall, and has some sort of pivot under the dashboard that acts the way your tireshop-mechanic described.

It's kind of a fancy version of the hand control for a lawn mower throttle.

Haynes doesn't get into obscure things like this.

Best bet would be to get a flashlight and look around under the dashboard, at the pedal linkage.
Try to figure out how stuff moves, and what should be connected to which, then find the missing or broken part.
First look on the driver floor: A nut may have just loosened and fallen (even a couple weeks ago) and the bolt finally backed-out.

The cable itself may have even snapped

Hope this helps.
