Here is some info I found. I hope this helps. :)

Body - Wind Noise From Rear of Vehicle

File In Section: 08 - Body and Accessories

Bulletin No.: 03-08-66-002

Date: January, 2003

TECHNICAL

Subject:
Wind Noise Heard From Rear Of Vehicle
(Adjust Primary Seal Flange)

Models:
1999-2003 Oldsmobile Alero
1999-2003 Pontiac Grand Am

Condition

Some customers may comment that when driving at highway speeds, a howl/bottle type noise is heard at the rear of the vehicle.

Cause

This condition may be caused by the deck lid not contacting the seal.

Correction

Adjust the primary sealing flange.

1. Make sure the deck is flush to the body before adjusting the primary sealing flange.

Important : Do not over adjust. This will increase the deck lid closing effort.

2. Adjust the primary sealing flange by placing a block of wood under the flange and bending it upward slightly with a hammer.

And there is also this TSB. I think either this one or the other is your problem.

Body - Rear Compartment Air Rush/Moaning Noise

File In Section: 08 - Body and Accessories

Bulletin No.: 02-08-58-004

Date: June, 2002

TECHNICAL

Subject:
Air Rush/Moan Noise From Rear Compartment Lid Area (Install Sealer)

Models:
1999-2002 Oldsmobile Alero
1999-2002 Pontiac Grand Am

Condition

Some customers may comment on an air rush/moan type noise from the rear compartment lid area of the vehicle.

Cause

This condition may be caused by a gap between the spoiler and the rear compartment lid where the spoiler attaches to the lid.

Correction

Remove the spoiler. Refer to Spoiler Replacement - Rear in the Body Rear End sub-section of the Service Manual.

After the rear spoiler is removed, replace the spoiler seal gasket, which is a two-way taped type of gasket and seal.

Apply a bead of 3M(R) Strip-Calk, P/N 08578 (black), or equivalent, around the perimeter of the gasket seal. Refer to the illustration for the placement of the strip caulk (Pontiac Grand AM shown, Oldsmobile Alero similar).

Important: Use enough caulk to correct the condition without compromising the appearance and proper mounting. Clean off any excess.

Is there such thing as a certain paste I can put around the door/window to seal it better? Silicone I think I remember reading...

Also, can someone expand on that first issue with the picture, I dont get it...

I hear them too, but I just block it out or turn the radio up higher. :P It used to bother me, that is why I have the TSB's and when I saw this post I thought they might help some other people out.

I noticed this noise when I got my GAGT. It's a 2004.

I took it in to a dealer. They installed a new door seal and when it didn't fix it they told me my car had been in an accident and my warranty is not covering the noise.

I went to the dealer I bought it at and they took apart the door and showed me how everything inside was new and had NO OVERSPRAY. There was no accident. The other dealer mechanics were just dumb and lazy.

An aftermarket company came by and replaced the seal around the rear passenger quarter window, and aligned the door so it was slightly closer.

The noise went away.

...for a few months. It's back again.

Re: lubricating the door seals: According to the last maintenance check-up list before 60K km it says that they coat the door seal with dielectric grease. I presume its used not only for preserving by lubing but possibly for helping of the prevention of spreading stray currents caused from road driving friction.
Any comments on this anyone ?

They've lubricated my door seals. Made no difference with the wind noise I mentioned earlier.
