Check engine light went off

I have a 96 gagt 3.1 The check engine light has been coming on with the 440 & 442 code I tested everything all passed light came back on after I had it reset so I just left it on. about a week and a half and about 130 miles it turned off. The light still comes on when I first start my car like it is supose to. any ideas?

Code 440 is Evaporative Emission Control System Malfunction and the code 442 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak). But since the light just went out I think you don't have to worry about it unless it comes back on again. I hope this helps.

Check the evap line (black plastic tubing, you'll see on the passenger side that it has a green test connection, kinda like a tire valve cover but larger)... The part that runs behind the engine, it is very easy to knock that loose so it gets disconnected. It may (or may not) be your problem but it takes all of 1 minute to check...
