actualy this to me is a very stupid question, but i'd figure i ask because i dont know and im confused. now, on the title of this forum it says 3400 V6 (LA1) now isn't that the same as SFI? IIRC (not sure now) SFI shows on my engine...what is the difference??

LA1 is the code for the 3400 SFI
Engine Designations for '99+ are
LA1 - 3400 SFI V6
LD9 - 2.4 DOHC I4
L61 - 2.2 Ecotec I4

Ya, Like LH0 is the 3.1 Multiport, and the 3.1 Turbo is the LG5, or the 3.4 DOHC is LQ1, or 3.8 Series II is L36 and 3.8 Supercharged Series II is L67

SFI is just an acronym which stands for Sequential-port Fuel Injection. The older 60-degree pushrod V6's had MPFI for Multi Port Fuel Injection.

SFI (explained above) is the injectors are actually times for each cylinder, so it sprays right when the intake valve opens, but MPFI just squirt like 1/2 or all the cylinders at one and the gas just has to sit and chill while it waits to be sucked into the engine
