Heres my new CAI and LED lite Grill. For some reason the Grill in the pics looks like its really dim but thats cause the light behind me were on. I try to take a picture without them on and the pic came out suckier. Is this something to do to with the LEDs? Do they like just not take good pics? When the lights are out it looks nice and bright just not in the pics.

Your GA is slowly coming along, Im sure some day people will drool over it. However, that is no CAI, it is a warm air intake, which pulls warm air from the engine bay whilst a cold air intake would pull air from behind the bumper, the fenderwell, etc, etc, etc. However, a WAI is still a bit better than the stock intake tubing which consists of a huge plastic box with holes in it.

Where in IN are you?
GrandAmSSE

Starke County. I was think of leaving on the Air induction tube from the air box to kind of ram air by the intake. Good or bad idea? I don't think it'll make much difference by every bit counts.

Sounds like this kids been getting alot of shit because of his ride. I guess if he likes it that's whats the most important part. Who are we to be judge and jury. But if your looking for opinions I tastefully say that spoiler is an eyesore in the worst way. Even though you got it for free. You're much better off putting the stock one back on. Save some money for some better wheels and tires. Once you've achieved that. Your car will look so much better. After that I'd invest in a GT Front, Rear, and Side Skirts. Then I'd say you got it going on. I had a 95 GT Coupe. Same color as yours. I got lucky and got a grey interior. I don't know if you can do too much with a tan interior or not. I don't have one. Now my '96 has a black/charcol interior in mine. But that's irrelevant. I really do feel that the car looks best with the stock one. I can not fully say that I've seen a GA in that year with a good aftermarket spoiler. I say this because the ones that I have seen looked horrible. Might even consider an AED short wing. I did that for my '96. But the body shop put the fixes to me when some spanish guy dropped it and then stepped on it because he didnt see where it had landed. He was supposeably carring boxes with it at the top of the stack and it slid off. To make it short check out other peoples rides and see if you see something you like. I'm done running my mouth now. =)

If I put the stock spoiler back on which I can't cause I sold it. I'll have to get a new decklid because of the hole from the after market spoiler. It doesn't look right in a lot of pics. I'll try to take a good one of it. In most pics it looks huge.

that is because it is huge, its the AED 'low' wing right? Im glad you go it for free if that is the AED wing, those things are $$$$

get that filter in the fender then youll notice alittle extra response, youll learn something ga owners arent big on spoilers and for good reason they rarley go with the car, i got so much shit for mine , once i took it off and when stock my car flowed so much better and i got alot of respect, also peoples opinion are part of posting, both good and bad, i would say you did take a positive step, keep it up.

oh, my bad there, I thought this was the guy with the aed spoiler... ah, either way, ya a fiero spoiler doesnt look good on a GA (checked his website), but its a damn fine spoiler

Pics of my car? Im embarassed of my car. The only award it would get is the grand am with the shitiest paint job. I think the number of scratches on it is in the tripple digits, the ass is fading, and clear coat is coming off the hood which means i cant bring it to the car wash.

Wow. Since you've now ruined your hood, you have a few options...
#1 Put the scoop back on.
#2 Fill the holes.
#3 Replace the hood.
Why would you bolt on a hood scoop? :(

I actually liked the hood the way it was, and the only bad mod I seen you do was the other lights you had behind the grill.
It's your car do what you want and if someone doesn't like it they shouldn't look at it.

If you'll drive down to Scottsburg with it, I will, for free, weld up the holes left in the hood, and if you take the spoiler off, I'll weld those up, too...just a thought...

you know what makes this one of the best sites around? its that everyone is supportive of others and friendly. go on some inport boards and all you see is, cocky mofo's, attudes, people bashing others, and insulting them. WE ARE NOT THAT!
Here we are like a huge family.
look why dont we encourage him and guide him in the right direction instead of bashing him. i mean you dont want people to bash your car. personaly im not a fan of hood scoops and 99% of aftermarket wings. but so what. lets try to help this kid out rather than critasize(sp) him

I'm thinkin the guy is OK. Look, as a kid we all did stuff that today would seem a little off the wall. He's tryin to mod his GA. And he started before he even logged on I think.
That said, I am pretty sure he is listening to us. Heck he tore off the hood scoop probably because of the negative comments he got about it on here. (and BTW, I have seen some well done scoops).
So hopefully we can all get along. He has some grand ideas (get the pun?) for his car and I personally will help him if I have the knowledge or experience.

Well, one can try, but personally its no my style at all, im one of the people who like stock looks, the hood scoop is akward all by itself, the grills ok but i hate tacked on lights, and the spoiler, at least isnt hella high off the trunk, just too wide for the car is all, but good luck on making it nice
GrandAmSSE
02-15-2006, 11:23 PM
Ok heres the scoop(get the pun?). When I bought it I also bought this duct that goes on the underside of the hood. The duct routes the air from the scoop over by the air intake. I planned on getting the scoop molded into the hood. But then some stuff happen and now I can't go 75ft from my house. I figured I'd bolt it on and when I had it moulded in just remove the bolts. The wing is almost the same width as the car so...yeah. I think its to long. From the front to the back of its like 6". Anyway when I put that on everyone thought I was going to have a park bench mounted to the trunk and were happy when they saw it. I got the wing pretty much because it was only a little higher then stock. I figure it might help handling and not just blow my flow like them universal wings. I did put one other part on my car. When I first got the car I bought a mini nitrous kit.(CHEAP EBAY SHIT) Later I bought a real kit. But anyway I found it in the garage and figure install it and when it doesn't work I'd throw it out.(Pointless to buy something and never even try it.) Well for anything but a standing start it blows ass. But if you hit it when you punch the gas you can definatly feel something. Not like my 60 shot that knocked you back in your seat but it does help launches. I'll probably take it out when I get my 40shot kit. 60 shot was to much for the car so I figure I'll down size. Also when I showed a friend today that I took the scoop off he said it made the car look strange cause the wing and scoop want together.

heres an idea, how about if he likes it on there, he likes it on there. No point in telling someone what to do with their car. I understand everybody is trying to help, but more of you are just pushing your opinions on him. It not my thing either but its not my car. I'm sure you wouldn't want people to get all up in your face about your cars. And you know Who you are that I'm talking about. So lets just calm down, and let him do his own thing. Peace out.

How about this, all your pros/cons against his car should not effect him. He has the right to do whatever he wants to his car. You don't drive, pay, or pay his insurance on his car. If he wants to do "awful" mods to his car, let him, he is the one driving. He means no harm and is new to this. The more you bash and complain, the worse and more immature you become. A simple "not my taste" or "Needs a lot of changes" is more encouraging than bashing him. I used to think like him and wanted to do the same things to my car until I was a member and learned not to do those "mods" This is a learning experience for him, don't make it a bad one :)
MY 2 cents

Needs a looooooooooooooot of changes. As i always say, "Do it right the first time"
Then again this is coming from a person who added another set of fog lights, and has them zip tied on. Oh well i tried not to half-ass my mods.

Yup; I agree with Pat big time, here. AND, this is a biggy...make sure you have a plan. Before you lay down cash for your next mod, make sure you have a final product in mind. Make lists...draw pictures...whatever it takes for you to really sit down and think about 'what is my dream Grand Am?' Then make sure every mod fits into that dream. You'll end up with a far more 'finished' product, and a ride you can be proud of, without spending money and then cutting :shit: out later.

jordan makes a good point to make a list of things to get done, and then follow that and make sure they all go fairly well together....
