i was wondering if it is possable to take a V6 engine from a 2001 grand am se and put it into a 2001 grand am se that had a 4 cylender in it?? and if so woudl it be simple or is heavy modifacation required?

Heavy. Very. All engine harness wiring, PCM, mounts, etc. Just buy a used V6 model.

You're welcome.

Oh, and don't dismiss the 2.4 right away either... there are tons of aftermarket parts. Your 2001 even has 2 different superchargers on the market, headers, intakes, internals, etc.

In fact if you were going for hardcore performance, I would stick with the 2.4 .

I disagree.

There is no replacement for displacement.

This doesn't need to be another I4 vs V6 thread. :piss:
Both have their pros and cons. Only worthwhile point that should be made, was not to dismiss the 2.4 simply because it has 2 less cylinders.

You're right...I can agree with that. :)

Yeah, seen matts 2.4. Dont dismiss them. I've seen what a little 1.8 can do, too, in my Vibe GT. Crazy stuff. Dont dismiss 4 bangers.

Yeah the LD9 isn't that much worse off, its still a lively engine. If you have an automatic transmission perhaps you can swap in a 5 spd Getrag to give it a little bit more zip/drivability.

now if you orginally had a 3100 v6 then we'd all tell you to drop in the 3400 in it's place for more hp and torque and then sc/t it or turbo.

which is what i'm planning on doing... once i get a second car for daily driver... and the money to buy a 3400 block with everthing needed.
