hey. i just installed a new amp and subwoofer in my car, and i decided to go the extramile and hide all the wiring and make the sub easily removable. it took me some time to make the plans and then the product. but all that time payed off. im using RCA (AV) cables for everything including power and remote wire. i need a mount to put the female plugs where the cable would hook up so i used so fiberglass board that i found. i made the brackets and mounted the plugs. it looks great. im going to put this whole thing in my trunk in the empty cavity belowe the latch (this works for the '02 se model). the audio cables hook up to my converter box wich is hidden in some empty space i found near the trunk light. i have some pics of the mount i made and i will soon have some of the totally finished product. but till i get those enjoy what i have. Im going to trim off the exces at the white line.

I'm not sure how much current your amp will be pulling, but an RCA cable is definitely not enough, you need to look at a different type of connection with a much heavier wire, or better yet, mount your amp somewhere in the trunk and you can use the rca cable method for just the speaker connections.

i agree with you robry but ive been there and worked that problem out. these cables are just 8 gauge wires with the rca connector on the end. its all one wire for each one. ive tested it out and it works great. besides its a 900watt amp and i wont be blastin the hell out of it either. tnx for the replies. new pics will be coming soon. i just have to get my camera to work right and theyll be here. the finished product looks awesome

well, it can be made clean.. i have a plate w/ 5 rca connections and an ethernet connection plus a coaxial connection. they sell them at any hardware store.. they look cleaner cuase you dont have to build them. there all ready to go..

but its not reccomended.. so tell me how you did this exactly.. the ends your using look like the wires i use everyday.. did you solder your power wire right to an rca connector that you bought at rat shack? like for making your own rca's? or did you just wire nut w/ the regular patch cord in teh connection box? the "barrel" that is in the board that connects them isnt desinged to handle any current.

and like said above, mount the amp all stealth, then just have a banana jack on the end of your speaker wires. thats the right way to do it.. im all for custom, but this just ghetto rigged...

the rca connectors are from an old av cable that had bad connection. i just pulled them off the wire and crimped them onto some new 8guage wire. the barrles are from"rat shack" and i have 8guage wires running to them too. basicly the barrles have a little nut on the back of them used to hold them in place. i put a small crimp washer under that and it works great. my meter tells me that the current at the end of my power wires(8g rca cables) is as good as it is right at the battery terminals. like said before im not gonna blast the hell out of this system. im not going to be trying to show off or anything. the barrles were only like $2 for 4 so if they burn up i can just get new ones. this is just a makeshift set upany ways.

well, most combo meters only have a 10 amp fuse.. and unless you have a peak option, you realy cant tell what amperage your running.. as music isnt a solid tone.. it bounces all over.. but if it works for ya.. then great! all i was sayin was that it coulda been done hella eaiser w/ banana plugs for the speaker wire.. thats all.. enjoy
