ECM or tranny?

if i am sitting still and i go wide open throttle first gear has great acceleration, but once it shifts into second(i have the 4T60-E) the acceleration is kinna sad and the engine is running at lower rpm's, if i take my foot of the gas for a second than get back on it, its like it shifts to a new gear and i just fly up to 85, how do i get my tranny to do that without taking my foot off the gas, some kind of tranny mod, or a computer reprogram???

... just for fun, pull it back into second gear and see what happens to the shift :)

i know i have the 4T60-E but my gearr shift only has D, 2 and L, i have seen grand ams with the same transmission have it so you can also select third gear, is there something simple i can do to be able to get all the gears, something with the shift cable? the designers at chevy decided that the corica didnt need so many options :(

With 96-98's with the 4T60E tranny (could be earlier models too) I've noticed first gear like to shift about 40 when at WOT. So when I'm in second, third or fourth at about 30-35 and floor it shifts down and flies real good, then shifts to second which is a VERY tall gear so it's a bit "slower".

... I know exactly what car you have as my Mother an identical one and if I remember correctly, pulling the tranny back into second does make the shifts a little firmer :)

im not worried about making the shifts firmer, it already chirps the tires on the 1-2 shift... im talking about when it shifts to second at 45, the acceleration is terrible, unless i get off the gas long enough for the tranny to make like a little bump (like 2 seconds) then i floor it agian and it goes to a different gear and just pulls all the way to 85, i want to make it do that without getting off the gas
