latest news: grand am VS curb not a fair fight!
(i'd post pix of the whole car but it's pointless when it's on a jackstand) it does look nice tho, considering i haven't invested shit into it. i spraypainted the hubcaps green to match the car, then i tinted all the rear windows with 35% cool jade (green) and 20% black so the windows are quite dark and slightly green. then i tinted all the interior lights green, i have my rador dectector above my rearview mirrow with no wire showing, it's ran to a switch thats mounted in the dash kinda behind my blinker thing. there's a secone switch next to that one for my alpine sterio, i fried constant power for it so thought i'd run the switch too, it's handy, i turn the car off and it plays, and i can listen to it without keys at all. i have future plans for 2 more switches, one will kill my alarm module so when i open the door no interior lights come on, and the other will kill my brakelights. (had a mercury sable with a light switch for the brakelights) this one will kill the brake lights in the off position but let then work normal in the on position, it's nice when ya wanna roll up all stealthy, no headlights no brakelights, and no interiors when ya open the doors. oh and one last super cheapo mod, i took the foglights out broke the bulb hole bigger and epoxied regular headlight bulbs in em, and when i conected the wires i made sure when they r on they r on bright. they ended up melting the origional fog light casing slightly, but they're still bright as hell, pry brighter than my headlights, well if you've taken the time to read all this ya may as well voice your opinion too, it's ok ya can tell me i'm retarted, lol

i think ya can kinda see the green/black tint looking through the car, and i added an extra oem pontiac thing on the nose of the hood, looks like it came that way.

ok maby ya canot see the tint, but ya can see the half melted foglight cover. (ya could see the tint slightly through the passenger window but not now that i made it smaller for the site.

1. Umm...why?
2. WTH would you turn your brake lights off for?
3. WTF? Now when you get your car jacked you've got no one to blame but yourself.

I have been thinking of putting a unlock button in my trunk. I have the SE model with no keyless entry. It would be handy when loading groceries in the trunk and mama wants to get into the car. Maybe I'll put one on a back door handle for when the locks freeze.

i had an unlock switch in my 84 olds delta 88. lemme tell ya that is like the best thing you can ever do for winter time problems of doors freezing shut or the the locks wont allow the key to turn... saved my butt so many times.
as far as all the mods. sounds like your trying to set your car on fire and or trying to kill yourself and others.... the tint is about the only good stuff!

I like the button under the handle, it's kinda neat... Sucks about that curb.. :(

If you're leaving the keys in, why not go completely butt-happy and install a pushbutton start?
Hear ya about the locks freezing shut.
Happened a couple times on my '91 GALE.
Of course... not having the weatherstrip at the bottom of the window might have contributed to that. :P

good job on the button under the door handle, but STILL not a good idea. that sucks about the curb (been there done that!! :) ) i dont htinnk that killing the brake lights is such a good idea...why on earth would someone do that? that's just asking for someone to rearend you. and how would you go through inspection?
oh and with keyless entry and the DOORS freezing on you isn't that great either.....

well, ive done the brake light switch.. ya dont use it in traffic, its more a stealth thing.. it must be a small hick town deal.. as i used to use it when either running away from cops or angry homeowners/friends after the s-10 did some olie's in there yard/feild/garden/driveway or whatever was available to mow down. dont get me wrong, it was all out of retaliation.
the tint thing is cool, i was gonna do that in blue, but didnt want the extreme blue that ive seen so adding regular tint over it would darken the blue but still be a blue...
it gets daym cold here and i've never had a lock freeze ever.. and im on my 9th vehicle... must be a michigan thing..
:nono: on the foglight deal.

thanks for all the input yall, no it's not really a hick ass town but being stealthy comes in handy and with such dark paint my car's almost invisable, once in a while if someone's riding my ass and driving like a @#$% it's nice to be able to pull a brake check, i know it's not a good idea but sometimes i just can't help myself, my locks have never froze but the drivers one is missing the metal flap that keeps water out. ya can see in the pic that i cut some of the green tint to cover it. it's just really handy to get in and start her up quick, and when i'm driving with passengers it's nice to get in at the same time they don't have to wait for me to find the keys, and if it ever fails i kave this creditcard thing that came with the car, it's got a door key cut out of it. oh and the start buttion sounds too cool but sounds like a fire or starter problems, don't want eather of thoes.
keep the ideas coming...

oh and to anyone thinking about doubble layer tint, it looks sweet but has some flaws, i was almost to the point of rippin out the defrosters but living in michigan thats not a good idea, there's a few seams and 2 of the topmost defroster lines had got cut, and when putting the second layer on it was lots harder to squigy the water out, it kinda farts out like getting a bubble out from under a bumper sticker.

Ok, I wasn't going to chime in until this comment. This is stupid, dangerous and illegal. I can't believe that someone out there thinks its a bright idea to pull a brakecheck without brake lights! You my friend may find yourself the recipient of a Darwin Award someday.

Well actually it was a very common thing to do back where I grew up. Of course there was no such thing as break checking. We only had 2 lanes of traffic. Small farm town...
This toggle switch for turning off the tail and break lights was for running from the cops... All we ever had to do was race and seemed like we got chased a lot. Almost like Dukes of Hazzard. :)
Crazy small farm town life.
But hell in the city that would be freaking nuts.

well to all yall that think i'm totally nuts; i don't even have a switch like that in my car, i did in a sable that i used to own and it was only because the origional ones never worked right and it really came in handy, you never know when you find yourself not wanting to be seen, i guess i don't have anyone supporting the fact that if you cannot stop in reasionable amount of distance your driving too close. i don't know about yall but when someone's on my ass i'm not very comfortable, and if i give em a chance to pass and they wanna be a !@#$ about if hell yeah i'm going to pull a fast one on em, i do it with caution tho, it's not like a slam on em, just a lil decrease in speed will do it. SUE ME!

hmm, I like this no lights switch... I almost want to do it in my car - buuuuutt, I think just turning off my runnig lamps and using the e-brake would accomplish the same thing with about the same degree of safety. Ive never been in a position to easily slip away from the cops, but I bet it would come in handy if ever such a situation did occur. And I love the switch for the door lock, that's damn clever

So a person is following too close, yes thats an issue. So I do what most people do and tap my breaks, the brake light illuminates and the moron gets a clue and backs off.
You hit the break, there is no light to notify someone you are slowing down and so they run into you. What a brilliant idea! Im surprised thats not an option in most newer vehicles.
I honestly do not see why doing a break check without lights will do anything more for you then with lights. The idea is to WARN them not to make them hit you.
As for the using it to hide, while I cannot condone it I can see the use. But seriously the brake check thing is dumb and dangerous.

C'mon Darren ... do you really need to intentionally try to stir $hit in every post your make?! ... you and I have always gotten along but as of late, your attitude has really SUCKED and I for one am getting tired of seeing all your negativity ... yes, some people aren't as intelligent as others (nothing referring to this particular member or anyone actually) but why do you feel it necessary to try and belittle people whenever you can ... if you don't like what you see and lack the ability to post about it without spewing argumentative and confrontational statements, please keep quiet ... I am sorry if I have ruined our friendship :(

Why am I being chastised when J. Mills just said the exact same thing? Multiple times to be exact.
But fine. I'll be quiet.

You honestly don't see a difference in what Jason posted compared to yours? ... maybe it is not so much WHAT you posted, but HOW you said it ... anyway, I am not asking you to lie or "sugar coat" your remarks Darren but you also don't have to have them dripping in sarcasm either ... this particular thread probably isn't bad but I thought it was necessary to tell you my thoughts ... like I said, I am sorry but this is how I feel ... if you'd care to discuss it further, we can do it via PMs as taking up further space within this member's thread is not fair.

I always use the ebrake or downshift. Why should I use my brake lights, it's moe of a wake up call when my car slows down and they aren't expecting it.
Shoot I've done it where I locked up the rear brakes into cloud of smoke at highway speed.
And if they hit me it's their fault for following too closely and not leaving the two second barrier.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Sure it would suck to have your car in the shop for how ever long it took to repair (if it wasn't totaled), but if some dumbass is riding your bumper, then its technically their fault. Bottom line is: They're not in control of their vehicle or opperating their vehicle in a safe manner aka tailgating serves them right if they smash into you, but at the same token serves you right for having them smash you for committing what seems to be fraud...but oh well. as the Wu tang Clan says Cash rules everything around me.

i just used it for stealth mode, not for break checking.. i do that anyway.. they get 72 led's in the face... but if someone is chasing you cause you have cockey friends that like to flap there lips, or running from the po-po, its alot eaiser to get away if they cant see your tail/brakes...
on the tailgating thing, i LOVE my s-10 as i can at any speed, go to the first nub or click into reverse which puts my backups on.. it dosent go into gear, just enough for the reverse light switch to activate.. the look on there face gets me everytime...
