Hi guys! I see lots of talk on here about the dhp pcm. Any comments or experience with the mms pcm? Any pros or cons either way? According to their website, its still rather new, Dec. 05.

I'm curious to know more about the milzy pcm as well, and whether or not it's worth the $150 for a mildly modded car like mine (udp, cai, poly upper mount insert)
Was just coming on here to ask about it and saw the post from someone else :)

I would wait on a computer until you have at least intake and exhaust done. Otherwise you won't notice it as much. Obviously more/different mods will help as you go, but will require different tuning. Milzy seems to be growing a good name for himself very quickly. I wouldn't rule that out and definitely look into it if I were you.

I was wondering about the difference between the two companies PCM's myself.

I had PMed Milzy about a week ago and he hasn't gotten back to me yet.I was thinking of getting the pcm through him.I have researched the company and it seems to get a lot of praise on the Monte sites.I will most likely end up buying a pcm through him as soon as i find out the specifics on the pcm. the dhp pcem is now 100 bucks

Now I know this is gonna sound very noobish, but what does replacing the PCM do that improves the performance? Just adjusts engine timings and stuff?

Pretty much.
As for PMing Milzy, I would suggest emailing him. Probably easier to get ahold of him.

Actually I have a MMS PCM, and it's great. Havn't had any problems left...I don't know about the differences between it and the DHP though, or if they're even noticable differences

What other mods do you have on your car? Did the MMS PCM make a big difference in power?

Pretty much all I have as of now is a cai (even though it is recommended that you have exhaust modifications as well). The pcm made a small but somewhat noticable difference in power (but the ass-dyno isn't reliable). There's only one dyno in town and i dont have $50 to spare
If you get it for anything, get it just for the shifts. They're a ton firmer than stock and all the shift points have been moved up.

Do you need a case learn with mms pcm. and does it take 91 octane

You just swap the new one in place of the old one...and you do need 91+ Octane

ask about if you're running a colder thermostat. on my truck's chip if you're running 195 degree thermostat you're supposed to run 91+ octane, but with my 180 i can run 87 and still have the same results.
dont know what it takes to change the thermostat on these cars. from what i remember hearing it wasn't a cake walk :???: but i could be wrong.

If you have the right tools to reach the t-stat housing bolts its a cakewalk
if not, then you're going to have to remove some extra stuff so you can get a straight shot at them (such as the EM heat shield)

all this information is good...but if one were to purchase either one of these, which would you go with DHP or MMS?

I currently have the dhp, and i did notice a diference in performance. A better difference too. But the one thing i did notice, was way better gas milage. I live in Houston, texas....and i drive everyday all day as part of my job, all over the city/highway. I currently have cai, borla cat back, and 62 mm tb, and i was averaging 235 miles on a full tank. I know this cause i zero my milage every time i fill up, for work purposes. But after i got the dhp.....an the case learn........it went to 260 miles on a ful tank, same type of driving in the city. Now, for me its worth it, since alot, and i'm sure i do get some performance gains, and i don't know if anyones rally noticed this about the dhp. I do cause i measure how far i can go on full tank everytime i fill up, so i'm ok with the dhp. I can't comment on the other one though since i've never used it, nor am i trying to sell what i have,,but this is what its doing for me.

can't really speak on the part of grand am's as i just got a 97. untill recently i owned a 1996 grand prix with a L67 swap (3800 SC engine & 4T65e HD trans). At first i owned a pcm for it and then as my mods came along i decided to buy their programmer. This company is great. Great support, constant updates with more paramaters you can modify. If you have the money $400, i definatly recommend the DHP PowrTuner. You can modifty tons of paraments and when you dont like something you can change it back. I sold the car, but i'm keeping it for this grand am that i just picked up. DHP all the way.
