Hey all.

Next week I will be upgrading from my 95 GA to a newer 99 GA.
When I had the 95 I got used to not having a large selection of aftermarket accessories. Now I am finding the 99+ have a HUGE selection of accessories available to it.

Here poses my question...what do you suggest I get for the new GA. I don't want to spend a ton of money.

So far, what I am going to get first is going to be a CAI, a Borla ProXS muffler with some chrome or stainless tips. And transfering my stereo system over to the 99.

Now this brings up another question. With the muffler, I intend to get a CAT-back system in the future. I don't want to have to buy another muffler to fit my new exhaust. Can I buy the muffler with the diameter of what the CATback will be and use size adapters for now? Would that do anything to performance?

I suppose I should give you details on the car so you can know what fits. I am getting a White 99 GA SE2 with the 3.4L V6.

Thanks in advance everyone.

CAI and exhaust is a good start. Depending on how far you want to go, you can do a UDP ($150), Ported manifolds ($200 + labor, see note below), DHP reprogrammed PCM, heads, cams, turbo....yada yada yada. Do a search, you find a ton.

As far as the exhaust goes, you can get a 2.5" in/out muffler, and use adapters and then go 2.5" pipe later on, but I suggest getting the SLP system to start with and putting it on yourself. It isn't that hard. For what you'll spend getting the muffler put on and then the piping later, you'll spend less on the SLP. :)

Note: As you might now, the 3400 is notorious for a LIM gasket leak. If this happens to you (and probably will) you'll have to pull the manifolds to fix it...while it's torn apart, by either you or a shop, you should replace them with the P&P manifolds at that time. OR, you can do it right away, and prevent the inevitable leak before it starts :)

Welcome to the LA1 club BTW...it's a great place to be :D

Reviving old thread here.

I was curious as to how you go about putting in a reprogrammed PCM. I was looking at pfyc.com's PCM. Looks simple enough, but I want to know what is involved in installing it.

I think it's just pulling out the old one (unplug, unscrew and pull) and putting in the new one. :)

Yes it is like that, but there is also a 35 minute relearn procedure but its very simple and the steps are very straight forward. I think this is one of the best mods for the money. Just my 2 cents . :)

Does pfyc include directions on how to do this learn procedure?

Yes right off of the page of where you purchase the DHP from PFYC towards the bottom there will be a disclaimer and then there will be the actaul step by step procedure. Good luck man, I know youll be happy with it when you buy it and get it installed!
