How often do I have to clean my K&N air filter?
I have it since the middle of last november and didn't clean it since I got it. I only drove my car for about 6 000 km since it.
So, is it the time to clean the filter?

Nope. wait until you get about 25,000 K's before you need to clean, or if it looks very very dirty. When you do need to clean it, buy a K & N cleaning kit part number 99-5000. It has all the instructions on it.

Thanks Jay!
When I got my filter, I also got the K&N cleaning kit!
Several people told me to clean the filter very often, that's why I asked the question here.
The filter doesn't look dirty, so I'll wait :)
My original filter was still looking like new when I replaced it by the k&n one.

Actually i've heard that leaving a little bit of dirt in the filter is better for the enginge because that extra dirt/ ect. acts as a filter itself. I think i read that on the k&n box.

If you clean the K&N filter too often you'll damage the microscopic filter fibers.
Another thing you can do to make them last longer between cleans is to turn it around every time you change your oil. The way our airboxes are made the filter gets dirtier on one side so that will even the load across the whole filter.
I don't mean turning it upside down, I mean doing a horizontal 180 and replacing it :D

i was about to say, if u do that then it would go into the motor but i'm glad u did say turn around 180 degrees "horizontal"

You clean it when it looks dirty. I know my Trans Am sucks in so much air with its carb so it needs cleaned more often. It just depends on wherre you live. Down in Georgia my filter on other cars had to be cleaned abour every 9,000 miles because of all of the pollen adn dirt in the air.
I've had my K and N since I got te GA two years ago just about, I have cleaned it once so far...it never looks that dirty at all!, anyway, I plan on cleaning it once a year, usually in april when i give the car its after winter tlc
