Finally I got my money, and after I have my car running, I'm taking off that damned resonator...problem is, I can't weld. Suggestions?

when u take the res out its gona sound like sh!t, taking it out doesnt increase your horsepower at all either. its just a hollow piped a little bit bigger than your exhaust to echo the sound to make it quiter so u can use a less restrictive muffler witch WOULD give you more horsepower.

Measure the amount of pipe you need and have a shop cut it and expand the ends. Cut out the resonator and install the new pipe and clamp it in.

Why is it that I noticed, maybe someone else has too, that everytime someone asks for help or a suggestion to do something, something like this comes up at least once, where the person disagrees and then doesn't even suggest any ideas? Making it a pointless reply in the first place, at least to me.
I'm not looking for horsepower, and I've heard a 95 GAGT 3100 V6 with the resonator off, it didn't sound like sh!t. It didn't sound as good as a catback etc. would, but it didn't sound real bad. I am going to buy a custom exhaust setup, but I'm getting these pipes for free, so it's not a waste of my money.

Thanks tenspeed, my girlfriend's oldest brother said the same thing, but he can cut the pipe himself and I just found out he knows how to mig weld...but I don't know sh!t about welding so I don't know if that's the kind of weld you put on exhaust pipes.
P.S. I've noticed you're one of the most helpful people here, thanks. :)

I agree with Jim. You dont really need it welded, clamps work fine. My truck's exhaust has been clamped together for almost 3 years now and havent had any leaks.
Plus, if you use the stainless steel band type clamps you can remove the pipes easier since they dont crimp the pipes together like the ubolt style ones do.

I just try to answer the question that is asked. If it's unsafe or will ruin something, I'll add that.
Thank you for the compliment.

I agree with Jim. :)
Also, if the resonator on the 3100 is anything like the one on the 3400 (which it probaly is) it's pretty restricitve.
BTW Jim, you do rock!! :D
