Hi, I have a remote bass knob that I want to install but I'm not sure on which side of the car to run the wire. Also, does it matter on which side is your remote turn-on wire for the amp? Oh, and one more question, if I'm putting a second amplifier for the sub do I need a second turn-on wire or I could just branch off the one I already have for the first one. Thank you.

what side depends on where you want it, dont matter where the wire is, with just one more amp you can branch off the other one. any more than that and i'd do something different

I would run the bass knob wire on the same side that you run/ran the power wire and remote wire. This would be the side opposite to the RCA's. The remote wire shouldn't make a huge different but it's always good practice to run wires that have power running through them on one side of the car and anything with an audio signal on the other. This way you will be minimizing the amount of interference. As for the remote wire turning on the 2nd amp also...you should be fine. Anything more than that and I would probably run another wire. You will have to run another or bigger(and split it) power wire, but I'm sure you already know that. :)

It may pick up interference like the rca's could. Just run it with the rca's you shouldn't have a problem with it.

^are you sure it's a frequency signal wire?...I thought it was a DC signal wire.
I agree not to run it with the power, but I'm curious as to the signal feeding it :)

Yea im sure of it. If you notice on the knob its for a decibel gain. Decibels, as they are using it on the nob is a measurement of sound pressure and intensity and not for voltage or power. However you can use the decibel rating for power but that does not apply in this situation.

but the knob could be controlling a DC voltage signal that to the amp could control the output (in dB) ;)
As an electrical engineer I see this type of control all the time and is very effeiciant in amplification, so I'm assuming that this works in the same way.
Despite how it works I think we can agree that it is a SIGNAL level voltage and should be seperate from the power cables :)

I think we just totally lost everyone else trying to read this

Hey, guess what. They're the same thing. If you lower the power 3dB, you lower the SPL 3dB. The actual amount of decibels in gain is obviously completely different from the SPL, but the relationship is the same until you begin to hit the dynamic compression of the driver enough to throw it off, in which case the knob is referring to power but not SPL.

NO shit? wow.. however as I said... the knob says db not power... :roll2: I am referring to what the damn knob says. But thanks for informing me..
