I've dropped plenty of pictures of mods that I have done but nothing in the rides section. It's about time to put it together in one group.

It's a 2002 GA 2.2L with a 5 speed. I drive it year round so I can't really lower it or put on a kit. Most stuff I do is appearence and since I am an electrician, there's a lot of lighting mods.

Here we go.

Thanks Mike and Chain. I spent a lot of time picking those rims out. I didn't have a lot of money to play with but I couldn't keep the 15" steelies on for long either.

Damn!!!!! That's one opf the cleanest rides I've ever seen. IMO there's not one mod that isn't in good taste. :thumbup2:

Not only you won in my mind but you won at Albany 2005

Do many people give you :shit: for all the lights you have (2 3rd brake lights and neons)? I personally love the lights, I was just wondering because I get some :shit: for having fog lights in my grill

Not yet. Most of the time, they don't even know that the lights are there until I turn them on. I have things tucked out of sight.

I milled a flat area on the edge of my RSM strut tower bar so you can't see the light from the front. You can see it peeking out in the 6th shot. It glows out from underneath. The only lights that really show are in the interior. They are blue and have a electron "snake" that moves around inside when they are on.

Alright, I'll be the jerk.

First though, the engine bay is VERY nice. Love that, looks brand new and filled with little goodies. I also love the billet window crank, I'm just about sick of replacing window regulators, currently my drivers side is locked up with about an inch of it open. The angel eye headlights are also a very nice touch. The air horns are awesome too!

On the negative side, I dont like the tails, the tint, and the mulitple color neon scheme. The SC/T wing lights are a bit much as well.

Overall though, lookin' good.

I welcome your opinions. If everyone like the same things, we would all have the same car.

I gave it a lot of thought before buying the chrome tails. I got them because I like the look of the chrome headlights against the white. I have been recently trying to figure out how to get the open to add a little body color in there to tone them down.

The wing lights only come on with the brakes and sort of glow on the trunk lid.

As to the multiple color light schemes, well I'm sort of A.D.D. I started out with a bunch of UV neons then I found out about the red CCFL computer mod's. The blue is in the interior because I found electron snake lights that sounded cool.

I'm not done either. Have you heard about strobes and plasma balls?

Haha, I love it other than the altezzas - but if you have to have altezzas they do look best on a whtie car. My favorite mod has to be the clean engine or the lights in the spoiler, that must throw people a bit when you hit the brakes, haha - I hope I get to Albany so I can see the car in person (since Grand Ams look sexier in real life than in pictures, as we all know)

GAOTW; need I say more? :D

FINALLY, someone with an open mind, even to criticism. I applaud you. I dont have a problem so much with the fact that the tails are chrome... I agree that chrome lights only look good on white cars, I just dont like that particular design. Then again, its not like there are an abundant amount of choices out there for tails on a GA.

"March 6, 2006 - tenspeed's 2002 Grand Am SE

Congratulations to tenspeed for winning Grand Am of the Week!! Jim is a very loyal GAOC member but rarely posts pictures, so take the opportunity and have a look at an extremely nice example of what patience can do!!!" Kelly
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you one and all. I really do appreciate the honor of GAOTW, a badge I will proudly display.

Kelly is right, I rarely post pictures. In the beginning the car was stock and everyone knows what that looks like. Along the way, I would post mods that I had done and at the suggestion of Trish and Mike in another thread, I put a lot of the pictures together. I never thought the car could compete with the GT's, the coupes, the V6's and the body kits. I added many things but I also grew used to them at the same time. Little did I know a couple of years ago that I could attain such an honor.

Thank you for the kind words bestowed upon my daily driver. I look foreword to defending my "Best Engine" title in Albany '06.

C ya there....

That is one sweeet white GA, and congrats on the GAOTW. I think if you were to take the ribs off the sides, or put a GT front/rear on it would be even better!! Maybe some twin-post mirrors too! I love the lighting, and that engine is amazing. Looks like it's never been driving, or even pulled out of the garage.

You've got one awesome ride. I'm very impressed. Keep up the good work on this thing. You can get carried away with modding your interior and the exterior of your car, but who cares! Yours looks great. How loud is the air horn set up you've got?

I work for Kodak, those are 4" film tin lids. I used double sided tape to hold the spun aluminum center. If you check your supermarket, the Dinty Moore Beef Stew can is about the same size.

I look at everything in my search for new materials. I have a dozen aluminum Budweiser bottles that I'm going to do something with. Not sure what, maybe a strobe light cannon.

Sweet ride man, congrats on GAOTW, one question though, where did you get the fuel door? I've been looking for one, but cant seem to find one.

tenspeed
03-10-2006, 08:23 PM
It's a Mustang fuel door that I turned down on a lathe. Then I used stacks of washers to get it to sit "right" on the curved fender.

I have a couple more that I am planning to turn down and sell with hardware and instructions.

if you have an extra fuel door that you can mod to fit like yours let me know via pm, i will compensate for your labor as well
