I heard on a thread that there might b a lighting contest at Albany but I asked Jay and he didnt have any idea what I am talkin about. I was just wondering if any of you saw this thread and know what I am talkin about. And if I am imaging this they we should have one with like some type of light meter and see whose headlights are the brightest and whatnot. Well lemme know what u no!
Peace,
Andrew

I brought it up as a suggestion. No word if there is actually going to be anything to do with lighting.

If I may, if you would like such an event to happen I suggest you take it on yourself to organize it. The Club ECM guys already have a lot to deal with with the regular activities and, to be blunt, you're the best person to know exactly what you need or want.

Lighting? Does it have to be car related lighting gear? If not, I might have a good shot at winning a light show. (stage/club lighting)
But I'm assuming a car "glow-off" type of competition. Would be easy enough to have as an informal event at the hotel at night.

Well I was thinkin of 2 diff types of lighting conests, I dont have the tools or anything to do it, but im sure someone out there does. I was thinking of the highest light output(headlights) and then like Matt said a "glow-off" type of looks competition. Anybody with the tools to do this like some sort of light meter lemme know and I will try to start organizing. Thx
Peace,
Andrew

Heh, thought about it... but the fog machine alone uses 1,200 watts. My apartment barely has enough power... I can't put the lights and fogger on the same outlet. No way a car is gonna power them.

Run a power cord from your room. This is the first year, no rules....yet!

Couldn't agree more. It's tough to put on a successful event and night time is the time for Club ECM to decompress, meet with friends and ready yourselves for the next day. You guys put on an outstanding event and I, for one, thank Club ECM for all that you do and have done.
The proposed "Hot August Lights" show should be run by individuals interested in such a thing. I see two types of possible categories.
First would be the headlight output broken down into classes such as "Two bulb stock", " Four bulb stock" and "Flamethrower" for the HID folks. A light meter at a predetermined distance and height would have to be used to determine the victor. Pure physics, no voting.
The second type would be the neon, CCFL, LED interior and underbody crowd. I would guess some sort of popular voting system would be employed.
The "winners" of both categories would receive absolutely nothing but bragging rights and maybe a blurry photo on the site.
I nominate Andrew to run the show. All in favor post up.....

That has sort of a Dante's inferno look to it.
