Have any of you ever put a performance torque converter on a grand am? If so, how did you like it?

If they do make higher stall torque converters for our cars I would be careful with how high you go. Not sure our transmissions or axle shafts can handle the added abuse.

2-300 is best for the 4t40e and the 4t45e trans trust me i know it works great but youll need a big trans cooler but yeah its totally worth it plus i can get then for around 250 or less

2-300 more?

And how is a transmission cooler going to help the sheer strength of the axle, UJoints and splines?

A lot of GM auto transmissions use the same style torque convertor. For sure, I know the 4T4xE, 4T60E, 4T65E (+HD) use the same kind but will have a different stall RPM depending on the application.

Typically going higher will reduce streetability and in-city driving will reduce your fuel economy since you'll need to rev the engine higher to get the car to accelerate. When you're light on the gas pedal the car will actually feel weaker until it reaches the stall RPM.

These ones should work: http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix/products1.php?id=133

Yea, actaully im getting mine from Protorque and they raise the stall to 2800-3200. I hope that wont hurt ne thing going that high but that is the only one they have for my application or so they say. I am sure the axles would be fine since we have alot of boosted GA's that have more torque then my NA can make ne ways right?
